What do we think the long-term plan will be for GF. Originally Mubadala wanted GF to supplement its income as its oil fields dried up and/or the demand for oil went down significantly. No idea about the projection of their oil fields but the demand for oil certainly isn't going down. I think after losing more than $10B from GF during its first 10 years Mubadala has a few scars. Of course, with ~500M shares at IPO and them giving up ~20% they would have brought in around $50 * 100M so about $5B to offset some of their past losses. Since the pivot GF has been profitable and giving back hundreds of millions each year to the mother company, however, Mubadala is still in the hole and has lost money on GF.
So where do things go from here? Anyone can see GF will never be the cash cow Mubadala wanted. The stock price is too low for Mubadala to sell off their remaining 70-80% of the company. Their market cap even at $50/share is aprox $25B of which Mubadal owns ~$17B-$20B range. There is nothing on the horizon that will make GF's revenue and gross margins increase significantly.
What do we think will happen with GF moving into the future? Will they get acquired by Intel? Other Thoughts? Predictions?
