Thread regarding Canon Inc. layoffs

The Latest at Canon

What’s happening to this company? Francis is now leaving, the leadership of a productive, producing sales division. One that made it budget year after year. This is not a good for Canon, it’s heartbreaking to see all the work accomplished is now, for what?

Francis is gone? Interesting, his loyalists Chung and Roman need to go also. Proservices under frany is a mess, so many people just sitting around.

I know Francis from his days at HP and his days at Canon. There are two sides to this leader. One is the employee facing which everyone loves, the other is his leadership facing and which is demeaning. This thread has people praising his leadership but working directly with him is unbearable. There is no nice guy when it comes to Francis making his numbers, above or below board. His entire leadership team is afraid of him and constantly cry to their subordinates we cant let Francis find out. There are issues with stuffing the channel and other activities that need not brought up on this board. My opinion Francis retiring is the same as Ed J. retiring as they both are viewed by Japan as missing the mark.

You are mis-informed if you believe Pete is responsible for all the changes.

He’s sticking it to the Japanese

I think Francis leaving is a sign that he does not agree with the corporate strategy and his allegiance is not with Pete as they move forward with this transition.

This screams Francis wanting to stick it right back at Pete for the changes that were made.

Let’s hope some of our biggest accounts don’t look at this and question the turmoil going on internally. Change is never perceived as a positive move especially when the one’s leaving are the glue that held this company together.

Pete deserves to have some sleepless nights after all the bullsh-t he has pulled. Keep trusting your Chicago friends Pete and it will get you no where.

P.S. And those in the C Suite at Canon who orchestrated this cr-p on Francis, and I have a special message for you:

EAT TWO SLICES OF THAT PIE WHICH CONTAINS THAT SPECIAL INGREDIENT. HINT: WATCH THE HELP!

It's corporate cannibalism. Because other divisions of Canon have failed, where Francis in contrast, was a success. Hence, corporate devoured a number of good people who worked for him away and reassigned to new reports. They can't hold a candle to Francis. Corporate will be very sorry they pulled this cr-pola. The fit will hit the shan.

No one retires on 2/19. People in roles like Francis would announce retirement in advance.

This is one of two things. This is either Francis telling the company he is not going to work for free because of the massive number they gave or the company cutting a large salary.

Either way it’s sad that a guy who was once considered the next coming will now no longer be assisting us in some of our largest accounts.
