Do you have anymore info on Comcast CB layoffs in Q2 (like timing and scope)?

All the affected folks should start getting loud about this.

Call your local news agencies, post this to r/layoffs on Reddit and on X. Spread the word on LinkedIn.

All the while, heres where they are sending these US jobs:

To a BRICS nation! A foreign country aligned with the BRICS nations are now monitoring US communications and cable infrastructure.

At least 200 affected in west division. Primarily sales and marketing affected across all regions and divisions from what I can tell. Smart people will probably leave once they land something elsewhere

Dear @x7+1jmfmwghh, at least part of the criteria possibly was to remove folks at top of (or above) the high end of their pay band, without regard to performance.

@@v8+1jmfmwghh, I was also impacted out of NED. The one thing that is throwing me off and makes no sense is how they decided to cut who they did. They let go a lot of really high performers and then kept a bunch of folks who I would rank on the lower end, people who can't code and folks who need a lot of help when doing their jobs. It just made no sense. I've been making myself sick all week trying to figure out how they did this and why they couldn't wait a few more weeks to make sure they were cutting the right people.

Took a while to process but saw it coming. EBI thinks they are doing well and they constantly talk about how great they are doing. Slowest organization ever seen. They have some really good people that are just so beaten down by the ticketing processes they can’t do anything productive due to management.
Processes in the division they took over now take 6-16 weeks to do instead of the 1-2 days in the divisions. Luckily the user base is fine collecting a paycheck while waiting for data that was important 2 months ago when the ticket was opened.
Actually relived to not be part of an organization that treats their employees the way this layoff round happened. Seems like HR had no cuts off course.
Best of luck to us all, hopefully we all end up at that convenience store we all love, wink

@jd+1jmfmwghh, wow 25 years, thats awesome. I was just let go and I got to 22 years. You're absolutely right, the company was so much different 25 years ago. It actually felt like a home and a place you could have a steady career; however, as competition got more intense, the comcast couldn't keep up. I think we should have invested more in fiber back in the day and more on market expansion. Also, we never fixed our customer service. The company has the worst customer service of any company in the entire world. We basically pushed customers away while we had no competition and now we're paying for it.

I was let go last year at this time after 25+ years. Trust no one. The line about applying for open positions is a waste of your time. The line about “I’ll put a good word in for you” is a joke. They know who they want in those roles already. Everything is done in such a way that they have a paper trail and will be protected legally. Don’t waste your time trying to get back in unless your 45 or under. This is no longer the company or the family it was back in the day. You’re better off going to competitor.

I don’t understand why this isn’t posted on reddit or other forums. At least aeveral hundred are affected by layoffs and thousands more will have their job duties completely changed. WARN hasn’t been enacted anywhere in the country. I wonder if they can bypass it by laying off mostly contractors.

At least 100 WD employees cut across IT, marketing, sales and finance. EBI cuts while they're hiring like crazy in Chennai, and likely more coming. CB is safe for now while they finish setting things up to be outsourced, but they'll start cutting before end of Q2. They haven't filed any WARN notices in any state.

NED here, I was one of 3 from my team (that I’m aware of) to be laid off effective March 28th. 6 years total, 3 years with Comcast 3 as a staff augment. Very tough time, my best wishes to everyone.

I just heard from management that it seems the layoffs will be effective on March 28th, as in that will be the last work day for any affected by this. This is regarding NED, I’m not sure how the other divisions are handling this.

Of the 45+ managers across the country, ~30 are being let go. Several directors are being cut. Most “staff augments”/contractors are being let go. It seems like the full time Comcast employees are somewhat spared, but not completely immune. I know of a good amount that will be gone effective 3/28/2025

If Comcast weren’t so stuck on outdated legacy plant and actually tried to advance with fiber 20 years ago maybe this wouldn’t be happening.

I’m in NED and 10 people on my team are being let go, cutting my team in half. Effectively doubling the workload of everyone remaining. There’s about 30 people in my org that are being let go (an org of about 60 people). A lot of the people don’t even know they’re being let go. The people that got lucky were called and the director basically said “if you’re on this call, and you’re not a manager, your job is safe”

I'd suggest not believing the canned "you can still apply for open positions" HR goodspeak. If leadership wanted you elsewhere, they would have already ran that by you before putting you through a layoff. My sympathies to all affected.

good luck to everyone impacted. I sort of had a feeling this was coming given how bad verizon, tmobile and ATT are beating us. Obviously, I wasn't anticipating getting being one of those being cut, but its ok. Its really hard to not do cuts like this when you are losing over 165,000 internet subs every quarter while your competition is adding anywhere from 350,000-500,000

It is across all divisions and regions. The number is likely in the hundreds if not close to or over 1,000. Some teams cut by 50% or more. Good luck to everyone affected.

NED here and I was let go. I was part of a team that all moved to HQ in January from the division. I was excited and looking forward to the opportunity. Today, I was told that March 30th is my last day and that I can still apply for open positions. None of us were given a reason why but told it was not based on performance. Been with the company for about 22 years.
