True Story…Hard to believe

Why do I even bother trying?! I spent the weekend working on a new proposal for Canon to expand their product offerings and tapping into a new key younger demographic to help generate new revenue for the company (seeing as our core business is struggling).When I presented this to my boss (a Sr Director), not only was I not met with “wow great work”, but instead I was told “woah slow down. I’m going to immediately pass on this. I don’t like you trying to come up with anything before running it by me first. And then I’ll decide if I want you spending your time on it or not”. Ummmm what?!!! I literally spent my own time over the weekend on this (it’s a great opportunity as well) but it got shut down immediately because I “didn’t run it by him first”?! And this came from a Sr Director!! What kind of company is this?! Are we trying to innovate or not?! Seriously why even bother trying.

I am so done with this awful awful place.

That’s classic! I think most of the “Senior” management at Canon is exactly that, senior. I see a bunch of panicking dinosaurs right now who have been asleep at the wheel for years.

It’s funny the refresh button must be broken because the numbers are not going up.

My senior director barely talks to his sales staff so be happy you can approach yours. All my senior director wants to know is whether I want to be good or great. Apparently he has changed the date on his presentation for the past 10 years. That was the running joke I heard from some of the tenured folks. No new ideas and no concept of the struggles we have.

The bottom line is everyone should be worried. We work for a company who doesn’t talk to the people who actually work with customers. Imagine if the company actually had a round table or survey to ask the reps where their struggles are.

Management decisions are made based on spreadsheets and reports. I sometimes get the feeling they want us to fail because they haven’t done a damn thing to figure out the problem. All I hear is send more “Highspots” or “We need new business”.

It’s sad but the reality is very clear under Sammy’s leadership this company is failing. I hope his fellow colleagues at the home office realize his actions have been part of the issue with the decline. It will not get better until he understands the core issues.

Quiet quitting is the way :). Get that paycheck while working towards your next phase in life. Management at Canon is horrendous and will not change till it’s purged. Good luck
