Too little too late

It’s amazing how a good layoff all of a sudden makes people decide to start actually working to try to justify their existence.

All of a sudden there are emails and meetings requested from people you haven’t heard from for YEARS.

Thanks for showing up to the game, but it’s now overtime and you didn’t participate.

Too little too late.

You sat on your collective as--s sipping coffee in Laces and doing anything but your job far too long.

How did we get here?

Simple: Apathy inspired by “labor contracts” making you all a little too safe in your existence, and not allowing us to remove the lazy, or as we say here “fauler Lump”

A good and healthy company should always be able to cut and shuffle the bottom performers, and optimize resources.

Works council be damned: we have protected the inept, lazy, and bureaucratic politics based workers for too long. It is about time here in Germany we take guidance from how the other countries who keep beating us in the market do it: remove them

Goodbye, do enjoy your retirement - but we won’t miss you as you were barely here - except for coffee and sweets.

I’m an expat living here and I can validate most of Germany does about 1-2 hours of actual work a day. The rest is meetings / PowerPoint / coffee / and more coffee

Funnily enough, I’m sure some people think the same about OP.

Not saying you are completely wrong but I judged people like that in the past only to find out they were doing boring but necessary work.

Also, having worked in a few markets I can tell you that most of them think that everything everyone in Laces does is drink coffee and go on holidays. Do with that what you will…

The OP is way over the top, but I partially agree. There are in fact roles you can remove and no one will face a relevant negative impact.

However, we are a big company and we need global processes for a lot of areas to be efficient - handled by employees which have no direct impact on the bottom line.

But over time, these global teams got blown up and started involving themselves in market responsibilities more & more.
Do we really think, that someone sitting in Herzo knows which style is „hot“ in China, which marketing campaign we should use in Brazil or which street in San Francisco is a good spot for a store?

To positive impact of this global involvement is minor while the additional complexity causes workload and delays.

It’s a dangerous narrative to assume being laid off means poor performers, and usually not true, trust me, they are looking at orgs, not details and often not who.

So many talented people I know have been laid off, including some great leaders who ended up at adi.

Try empathy and not being an a-s

Do let us know about how meritocracy works and how MAGA only is the way to go. What a hateful piece of S*** post and of a person you are, posting the same hateful ideas one after the other.
Germany and other European countries have been successful because of the social policies that still treats people as human beings, labor rights and laws.
Pack your bags and move to the MAGA country unless you are already there.

Honestly we could get rid of 33% of all workers and likely be more nimble, agile, and efficient.

For instance - how many “aspen” requests does a person have to open to even get the tools needed or do their job?

How often has Puerto mangled payments and contracts they cost us money?

How many project managers just exist to create PowerPoint slides and then read them verbatim in a meeting?

How many meetings do we have about meetings we had?

Townhalls, trip reports, needless expenses on trinkets we don’t need that don’t help do what we need to do: win

All the people managing that fluff, likely add up to a huge number
