I’ve worked for many years in both Atl and Day and the quality of employees in Day was far superior. In Day, they had the pick of the best talent, but in Atl, they are way down the pecking order.
Name a significant innovation since 2009?
NCR Dayton was never a winner. Problem was the brain power employed there was as slow as their speech.
Lots of positions in India ATLEOS
This sounds like it’s right, should clear things up.
NCR never owned Unix, bell labs developed it and licensed software used by ATT and others
NCR was acquired by AT&T Corporation on September 19, 1991, for $7.4 billion and was joined with Teradata Corporation on February 28, 1992. As an AT&T subsidiary, its 1992 year-end headcount was 53,800 employees and contractors
AT&T sold Unix to Novell in 1992, who later sold the UNIX trademark to a new industry consortium called The Open Group which allow the use of the mark for certified operating systems that comply with the Single UNIX Specification (SUS)
They sold UNIX in 1993 when they were under the AT&T umbrella.
Cheetahs is leasing the top floor to make up for the loss of their sign!
To the person who said “NCR owned Unix”, you are out of your mind. They only licensed it to use on their hardware.
New head quarters is in Serbia now, last I heard was 20,000 employees and growing, the outsourcing will continue, the Georgia plan has run its course.
What once was a company with great employees is nothing but garbage now.
The decline at NCR started in the 1980's and was accelerated when AT&T bought the company. NCR was a sales driven company that refused to seriously value and invest in engineering products. NCR invented the LCD display and redesigned ethernet into a practical interface. NCR literally owned UNIX. If the management had made decent choices, they would be a huge company.
I agree NCR started to fail after moving out of Dayton. The Headquarters building on the other hand was a dump. As was the tornado proof data center.
NCR had beautiful headquarters in Dayton, when the moved it was then of them. The start of the decline began. NCR has never been the same since leaving Dayton, Ohio.
I thought GHQ was now in Serbia?
If you don’t have a workforce, why would you need a building?
Easier to close or sell if no real estate to mess with.
