Special privileges

Why do people who have kids get special privileges....take off early, show up late, take extra days off....."have to hop off early today my kid has practice"... No one seems to bat an eye, but if you don't have kids, time off is scrutinized

Maybe you work on a bad team. I don’t think of it as parents getting special treatment. I think of it as accommodating people, wherever they are. I’ve had employees need time off to study for grad school or to take classes during working hours. Some who are dealing with parents with health issues. Some with pet issues. Who cares. Do a good job and I’ll give you all the schedule flexibility in the world.

Stop kidding (pun intended) yourself! Workers with kids don't have it easy. The constant stresses and disruptions they create to a "normal" working schedule may appear on the surface as being "special privileges", but deep-down we're stressed and just trying to balance work and family life.

If you really want these "special privileges" then why don't you go ahead and pay for my kids college, pay for braces, pay extra health insurance premiums... the list goes on! While you're at it, take on the stresses of dealing with my peer pressure, obnoxious relatives and the fears of keeping them safe in this unsafe world!
