SSA head steps down over DOGE access of recipient information

Frank’s going to walk into that building and hand the keys straight to Elon isn’t he?

Don’t get me wrong, I’ll be glad to see him go. But as a millennial, I had my doubts social security would be a thing when I retired. Now I’m sure of it.

Please people. Elon has spewed bullsh-t and some of you are willing to be served. Where is the proof. Show us all examples of a 150 year old still getting checks. Just because they’re on the books means squat. Prove it.

You just don't get it do you?

If they make a mistake and cut off legitimate Social Security checks, then the American can just call the Social Security office, have the phone answered by the employees who are no longer employed, and get the whole thing cleared up in a matter of minutes. Simple. Absolutely nothing can go wrong by removing employees before stopping the (allegedly fraudulent) payments. Just because SSA employee forgot to fill out the date of birth field decades ago is a completely justifiable reason to suddenly stop payments. It is not like they could investigate the situation and correct the data. That would take time. Better option is to cut off the payments and never investigate. That way absolutely nothing can go wrong! This is all sarcasm for those who cannot tell the difference.

The best part is Frank is going to get all of the blame for something that happened before he got there. Jokes on him.

Do people really believe this is about uncovering fraud? Or that any savings is going back to the people? Do you really think Elon is d-mb enough to not realise that many of the conclusions he is quickly drawing are likely to have more innocent explanations?

There is a lot of half truths and crazy sh-t being thrown out there to distract from what is going on. Why is anyone comfortable with the lack of oversight and the breaking down of structures that are there to hold people to account?

This isn’t about boomers vs gen z. It’s about oligarchs and friends vs everyone else. You really feel comfortable with him having access to your data and firing everyone that questions his motivations??

Frankelon will solve SSN issues by installing Sapience into the skull of each recipient. They must register so many clicks per day or lose benefits...no more paying out dead people. Sapience will connect via Starlink as a win-win for everyone involved. It. Could. Just. Work!

For those who hate boomers, you might have unresolved Nana, Mama, Papa, Daddy issues. Do yourself a favor. Fiserv offers a few free mental health sessions that may be helpful looking in to.

Hey @fb+1jmcxs18n, this boomer hasn't even collected a ss check yet but working since 16 years old. This is most boomers.
Do you know how ignorant and STUPID you sound? Boomers aren't the ones taking. It's those who have and continue milking the system and getting away with it. That is not the majority of boomers.
If you can't figure this out, there is no help for you.

@g8+1jmcxs18n You actually think people's children will get SS? You MAGAts really live in a different reality.

Wow some really uneducated people here. No doubt someone so obsessed with TDS that they are ok giving away their children's future SS to fraud.

Or yeah a wired opinion post is really something to sight as fact, NOT. Let DOGE expose the evidence what's the harm in finding facts? Agree with @e3+1jmcxs18n

Blame boomers on one hand and then complain about a zoomer digging in?

@f9+1jmcxs18n I agree. I don't understand why people are so in support of fraud on this board. The 138 year olds ought to be not only removed from social security funds but be back fined from date of death with a levy. No prison because that would be too expensive... Would pay for another few generations to retire one day.

Boomers dined and dashed, left us with the bill, and call us lazy when we don’t want to waste away all day in a cubicle for leftover crumbs.

Oh please. Wirh all if the fraud and checks going to dead people... DOGE will find that we do have enough money... the system works IF you don't have people stealing OUR money.

It's hard for people to look at things without a bias, but if you can peel away your feelings about politics and look, there is plenty of past and current evidence of SSN issues specifically for 6.5 million numberholders age 112 or older in a nice report from OIG in 2015.

https://oig-files.ssa.gov/audits/full/A-06-14-34030_0.pdf?utm_source=chatgpt.com&utm_medium=email

Regardless what you think about DOGE or the current administration, if there is this much data that is tainted, was identified in 2015, and was never resolved, why not address this? If not, nothing will ever be done to fix it! All the concerns about SSA solvency would be helped by weeding out fraud, waste, and corruption in general.

We as a people cannot keep doing what has been done, we are on the edge of a cliff about ready to default as a nation, but people are screaming for more free stuff.

Seeing the downvotes on people asking for time to see what really is true and discussing audits that need to be done, shows how stupid some people really are. They don't care about facts. They accuse the other side of the very thing that they are guilty.

On the SSA payments, I did read an article that said there is an edit in the system that stops payments at age 115. Even still, our government has fraud in this space (estimated at 20% according to one hohearing notes).

Bottom line big business has invaded big government. Yes, there are parallels. No one denying that. But complaining about RTO vs the waste in government are two drastically different topics.
You want a guy that will make people quit...FB is the man for the job.
You want a guy that will make people want to exit public sector work and enter the private sector...FB is the man. He knows how to cut costs, and I'll dare to argue that we need that right now in government more than we need to worry about keeping employees happy.

Downvote away.

You don’t see the parallels with what is going on here?

Who doesn't want the fat cats spending our hard-earned dollars held accountable?
Process is very open and transparent.
Businesses no matter the size require audits, why not government?
Long overdue bringing it out into the open.

I understand COBOL according to the cursory list (the one referred to here) the flag indicating deceased is set to N. Lets see how it plays out before we call bullsh**t please. Clinton had personal cuts of 10 percent as well as workforce reviews in the 90's. Anyone who bothers to understand how Washington works knows they are not going to police themselves.

Lets review the findings vs attacking the messenger.
