Inefficient processes

Please comment here about specifc processes/departments that are inefficient. I've noticed that the end-to-end project delivery life cycle is wrought with duplication and lack of clear process ownership. I'm wondering what other processes are similarly broken.

@as+1jmcq5nev Exactly. It's there whole "if you bring me your problem bring me your solution too" mantra. Sure there is a place for bringing up a problem and having a solution. However, there was a time, when a manager understood that if their employee was coming to them for help on major issues the manager would help. Managers these days seem to be just figure heads(especially at this company). I think mine is just clueless most times and I'm surprised they are a functional adult.

Things can be out of compliance, people not turning in deliverables on time repeatedly, and people MIA on meetings hauling progress. When you escalate to your boss, they treat you like sh-t and are annoyed that you can't work it out with useless incompetent people. The same co-workers who won't show up to meeting to "work things out" but complain in front others that not getting help or whatever.

So much CYA and throwing others under the bus too. Classic reality TV=Citi

Not if it's anonymous.

HR, start there as they are useless. No responses from them, at all. Yes, we are all aware they are given emails to send out under their email DL that’s been written by marketing and legal to sell that it originated from HR, no one cares. When an employee reaches out to them, actually respond back and not give them a broken link to a FAQ that does not address the original question. If it’s not going to get any better than that, then why have them? Just let the HR chatbot and\or AI take their place and recoup that outflow of salary.

We all know that with AI on the cusp internally, that HR is the low hanging fruit in which to try out that testbed. Go ahead and flip the switch if things don’t get better with HR.

How is this helpful? We all know there's a lot wrong. Is posting on here going to solve that or give more fuel to SMTs in Town Halls. Yes, there are inefficiencies. Yes, management doesn't listen to those with experience. It's like they throw two different jigsaw puzzles together and try to make one complete puzzle.

Can you take this information back and tell them that change/improvement needs to also come from leadership from the top down? Email people and they don't respond. So, many don't ask on Slido (not really anonymous) for fear of retaliation and some ask whatever because they no longer fear retaliation. :)

This is a loaded question, as anything stated, YOU then become goaled with addressing it even if its way out of your area. I’ve seen it way too many times in TH meetings.
“Any problems or issues?”
“Yeah, inventory is wrong”
“Well then I challenge you then to come up with a solution that works. Who better to come up with a solution than the people who use it.”
This being said not knowing if the person who complained is a secretary or someone not even remotely skilled to code. This in itself is st00pid. You go to a mechanic to fix your car and he gives you a manual and some wrenches and says “now’s a good time for you to learn how to fix it yourself.”

So on this post “what processes are inefficient?” , so will this be flipped over to those who reply with “well, guys seems like you know what needs to be fixed, so spin up some meetings and plan it all out”.

Marketplace bloat and complexity needs to be addressed. Links get shifted around. Options change with endless drop downs, radio buttons, tic boxes asking for god only knows what’s next. Often times a guid looking number entry that can be in relation to a user\machine\template number\site location\any of the MD ID number\special report number randomly generated\request number etc….. Its up to YOU to figure out. YOU are the one that needs to figure out what special piece of information its asking for only for it to all change in a month to something else.

The fact that Citi still plans, thinks, and works 'project' first instead of 'product' is a great indicator of the lack of maturity here. There is no process besides everyone's own little slice of the whole. Until Citi gives people a reason to truly work differently and collaborate, there will always be lack of efficient process because everyone only sees and care about their little tiny part. The bigger issue is no alignment on what good should be and everyone's role in it. Everyone has a different definition and expectations. Until you solve the larger problem, no reason to dig into processes.
