Thread regarding HP (Hewlett-Packard) layoffs

Any Updates On Boise?

Getting really concerned that Boise is the next to go after SD closes this year. Anyone know what's going there? Perhaps I missed an announcement about the Boise campus.

The Boise site's lease is up in 2029. They are not renewing it.

My dad worked for HP.through the 90s and 2000s until he retired in 07. I remember being amazed by the size of the campus whenever he took me there. I was a kid at the time and maybe my perception was wrong but it seemed absolutely packed, so much so that there were rows of those trailer style offices set up because there wasn't enough office space in the building. And the campus itself was just beautiful, felt like I was in a park. It seemed like HP's culture got real nasty under Fiorina and y'all had wave after wave of layoffs ever since.
Nowadays when I drive past the Boise campus it's sad to see what a poor state it's in, was so clean and alive when I was a kid.

"Baloney that the Boise campus will continue for a long time. The place is nearly deserted!"

Exactly! They also said that the SD campus would remain for another 10 years, only to close it down this year. HP is offshoring as many jobs as possible and selling the campuses.

I doubt Boise is going anywhere. I think HP will eventually, maybe within a couple of years, implement RTO much like their competitors.

If you think Boise is empty, then go to HQ. They’re leasing half of their buildings to Tesla and a few buildings to various small companies. Frankly, I don’t even know why HQ is still in Palo Alto. No one’s there and the only time someone is there is when earning announcements are going to be made.

There is no plan to shut down Boise anytime in the near future. Now perhaps in 10 years it will be different but that is a long way off.
