Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Optum Voluntary Resignation Buyout?

Today, https://www.thelayoff.com/t/1jmad1rds

UHC Operations & Experiences 30,000 employees have been offered a Voluntary Resignation (VRSP) program with a window from Feb 24th to the first week of March, with a small severance of 7 weeks to a max of 30 weeks if you've been with the company 25yrs or more. Resignation through VRSP becomes effective on May 1st.

If Resignation quotas aren't met, involuntary layoffs will start.

March 3rd deadline to accept.

Will a similar offer become available for Optum employees?

If so, which Orgs?

The obsession with unemployment is if you get severance and still can’t find a job there is also unemployment pay. Low pay is better than nothing if you are holding out because you can’t find another job. If you volunteer for severance you can’t collect unemployment but if you get let go you get both. Check your states for more information.

You better check with unemployment prior to volunteering. Not sure if you can collect unemployment if you volunteer.

So have all 30,000 already been notified or, are notifications still going out? How are you being notified if you are impacted?

I doubt it but if they offer it, I can imagine it might be filled within a day. 100x out the door 😂

Optum side never offered buyouts. United side a different animal. Surprised they offered buyout they must be in a real hurry for huge cost cutting so no time to filter the potentials and hope people self elect and enough bite to hit the magic number. If not the kn--e will be out to make the number with terms that are not as good. Optum side most likely stick to at least 1 offering every quarter like they have for years. No way Optum offers buyout after a big round that just happened

Tough to say, UHC hasn't had nearly the volume of layoff waves over the last 18 months that Optum had, and 30K is roughly what Optum cut in the Q3 rounds last year.
