Thread regarding Canon Inc. layoffs

Another day...

I'm sure alot of us are thankful to be off of work today, however prob not thrilled knowing it's still 3 days this week in the office.. Whoever may read this and thinks "Here goes another employee being ungrateful again" it's not about being ungrateful, it's the fact that you are still required to be in the office for 3 days because of a Monday holiday which makes no sense considering it has no bearing on financials and isn't going to lead to more teamwork and "collaborations" it's just another way to be micro-managed..

Sammy will have you all back in the office by the end of the year. Those of you that are left. It's a fire sale at Canon

Interesting comments about toilets. Suggestion: when making a deposit into the porcelain bank, all employees shouldn't flush.

Upgraded bathrooms??? Building I’m in is 4 decades old, no hot water in bathroom to wash your hands, toilet seats with decades of grossness! No hot water for for hot cocoa or tea, no vending machines, etc. Pack EVERYTHING needed for the day, 20 lb bag, and a mile hike from parking lot to building. I owe, I owe, into the office I go because Sammie said so!

They don’t care about us, our families, or our pets. I’m sure many pets/family members have separation anxiety.

I get way more done when working from home. Can we scream this any louder?
In the office, I have to listen to all the chatty cathy's who apparently have nothing better to do. The work environment in my office is horrible. We all have these low walls so the sound carries and sometimes when I'm on a customer call or a teams call I can barely hear anything. The desk are tiny, chairs are uncomfortable, falling apart and squeaking. The air is dry and murky. For a company worth what a billion dollars they are renting cr-p for us to work from and cant or wont spend any money to improve it. Even the bathrooms recently upgraded from 1975 recently have toilets that I think were meant for kindergarteners you practically are sitting on the floor.

What a horrible feeling knowing you have to go into a place you despise being at just so you can pay your bills (barely). Office days are a true nightmare! Listening to office gossip and having management walking around to check if you on your celly. Like previous posters stated Canon is a horrid place to work at! It can’t be stated and pointed out enough just how horrible it is! So many people have quietly quit and are just a body in a chair waiting for 5 to come around! That added day in the office and the add’l if a holiday falls on an in office day just literally ki-led any positive thoughts anyone may have had about working there! There isn’t one positive other than a sh-t paycheck….that is never inline with the cost of living increase!

I was having the best Monday when I suddenly remembered I still have to be in the (Melville) office because of the d-mbest new policy ever of having to come in on a Thursday when there’s a Monday holiday. Who wanted this?!! Seriously who said this was a good idea?! This has a 0% approval rating at the company.

I had to work ALL WEEKEND because I get no support from my co-workers. Last week was total chaos because the executives were having a meltdown over January results. I’m done with their childish behavior. “Me me me me me me me, it’s all about what me, the executive wants”. No consideration for anybody else. If you got to work until 10 pm 7 nights a week, work weekends, holidays, vacation days, “Oh well, be grateful you have a job and take one for the “team””.

This company is done. Seriously there is nothing good anymore. I am just at the point of collecting an easy paycheck and going through the motions knowing management doesn’t care. In-office days are an absolute joke. I’ve never hated Monday, Tuesdays and Wednesdays more than I have to start 2025…

The most toxic environment I've ever worked at, nothing to do with the hybrid policy. Easily throwing people under the bus. It would never lead to a productive successful company.
