Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Optimus Prime clusterfu-k

You may think that some of the ELT decisions are questionable, but those have strong competition from the company wide clusterfu-k that is Optimus Prime.

Surely heads must roll?

OP - the biggest system roll-out in Teradata history. All OP Town Halls are the OP team patting each other on the back for the devoted time over the last two years. Working in the system, is absolutely horrible and everyone I speak to, absolutely hates it. There are so many issues, it will take a couple of years to straighten out. I would hand the team boxes and tell them to get their stuff cleaned out by the end of the day. This system is an unmitigated disaster and failure!!

TD's service provider partner basically abandoned the program and like 50 people kept it together with duct tape, bubble gum, and no weekends or PTO for a year.

That’s the code name they gave their new ERP system? “How do you do, fellow kids.”

The WOT platform is just like our products... Legacy. Back to paper and clipboards we go

For a shrinking company to spend money on any new internal systems/"shiny objects" is ludicrous.

With its declining customer base and lower revenue, the whole failing business can be run on a spreadsheet and save a ton of money. That does raise the point of whether any of the ELT can use a spreadsheet :)

Shh… didn’t you get the memo? We are not supposed to say anything remotely negative about it. I’m not making it up. We were told outright it’s the best thing since sliced bread and we are only expected to praise it.

Investing in new ERP instead of new products is definitely questionable. Especially if we are talking about stagnating company business which doesn't have any new scope which existing ERP system cannot cover.
