Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Trump to become more restrictive on offshoring?

They keep mentioning it in the news that the commander in chief is casting his eyes over becoming more restrictive on offshoring hires. Now what ‘more restrictive’ means, I have no idea. I mean what could he possibly do? What options does he have in regards to this?

Trump will deliver on all his promises by definition, and it won't make a lick of a difference to your bottom line but you will feel SO much better knowing that others are worse off than you. You will imagine yourself a "survivor" in hard times and pat yourself on the back for your gumption and pluck. You will relish it and argue vehemently that it's a win even as you scrape and scrimp whist Musk, Bezos, Zuckerberg and all the rest divert more and more government funds to the private sector to be "run like a business" aka run into the ground for quarterly profits in the name of "efficiency." And once the "scourge" of DEI is eradicated, some other scapegoat will be found. Will it be you? Probably not, at least for a while! Your mission, whether you choose to accept it or not, is to stay on the correct side of that scapegoat line for as long as possible. You will achieve that by your adherence to the party line and its associated propaganda. Your reward will be your survival. Enjoy!

There's too much Curry in $hitibank ! 🥘🍲

Compare that with JP, GS, BofA, Morgan Stanley, Barclays, etc..

You know, the profitable, successful banks that aren't Dysfunctional Chaotic Freak Shows with Dumpster Fire Data Architecture and did Not accidentally wire FREE MONEY US$900 Million to Revlon's creditors! ROTFLMFAO!

I think Trump will give us more jobs in the US by 1) deporting many people who do menial jobs, 2) enact crippling tariffs to raise the cost of everything, 3) fire many people from government raising the unemployment rate and thereby 4) making people desperate for any job at all including the menial jobs once performed by (see #1).

Who knows for sure what the future holds.
Higher business taxes or NOT removing regulations should the bulk of your staff be overseas or a greater percentage of 20% is staffed over seas for your US originated company. This of course is an example but its not too far fetched to think that such thing is possible.

A 1 for 1 tariff was considered not doable and here we are.
1 for 1 tariff meaning that if Spain charges the US 5% on automobiles, then we charge them the same percentage of 5%. If Spain increases the percentage then we do so likewise.

@az+1jm8s92kc what a nonsense comment you made. By the way I am an indian 🇮🇳 woman but I don’t think the way you do. Such a nonsense statement you made. I never faced racism in USA. Infact the people welcomed and helped me all are white Americans, and o have huge respect for them. You id--t.

I don’t know. Trump wants more jobs in the US for US citizens. There’s no telling what plans he has in mind. There’s several things he can try to pass by congress but it needs congressional buy off and there’s several things he can do without congress to apply pressure on businesses. He does have his eyes on the banking sector in regards to several things. He wants to throttle back the regulation for banks some, we all know that. So that’s a good thing but some of the other things that s on his mind may not be so friendly.

How very true - same valid for UK/EU. Job market is flooded with desperate imported "highly-qualified" Indian "specialists" - the problem is nowadays the productivity and number of bullsh-t jobs is both high, which means companies can afford to hire low-skilled workers and still make do - because you need couple of good people at the top that you pay well to make sure mistakes are minimized.

One of the reasons they are pro-H1B is to keep the pool of available candidates large and thereby keep salaries low.

It's not going to happen with Musk, he wants more H1Bs. They're under the idea that they are smarter than what the US can produce, which is wrong.

The US must become Indian. Total Indian dominance. It is the only way to defeat racism.
