Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Find a lawyer now

Ran into a Dell manager in a local supermarket not my manager but one of her peers. It’s not unusual since we live in the same town. She confided that remote employees are going to be very disappointed and angry when bonuses are announced.

I said “wow, should I contact a lawyer now? “
“Why?”, she asked.
“Because I’m remote and there was never any explicit language that said remote employees would be sc--wed out on compensation.”

She turned pale when I said I would be emailing her boss on Monday.

Dell managers know nothing of discretion.

Too funny. First, read the announcement and policy from last year. Remote workers are SUBJECT TO ORGANIZATIONAL PLANNING. Now that I've said that I can tell you what I've seen at my L1 level is that the financial planning depends on the different business teams and their executive leadership. My specific flow chart is getting 100% bonus and country minimum for pay increases regardless of work classification, and all determined prior to Dell's company modifier announcement. But I know that other businesses are being absolute misers and using 75% of their total budget.

Made up story clearly, but if it wasn't then you're a loser. Someone confides in you information you can use against the company, and instead you snitch to the company to get them in trouble.

D-mb sh-t OP, the company will reward performance. No such thing as bonus entitlement. If you expect 100% bonus for quiet quitting, good luck. the day of reckoning is here, motherf----rs.

On my team of 16, 14 of us are remote, and all the remote are not anywhere near an office. My manager lives 1000 miles from the nearest office. Pretty sure he's not going to hold this against any of us.

Dell bonuses aren’t true bonuses, they are agreed upon parts of the pay package. It is supposed to be part of the overall compensation provided that the company meets its financial goals and the employee meets or exceeds goals determined prior to the FY.
Most Dell ‘I’ level employees ARE entitled to the predetermined bonuses if those conditions are met and there are no disciplinary issues.

Managers discretion is limited and must be approved at the next level up.

Ethical managers do not have hidden criteria or change the rules mid year. Consult a lawyer, others have beaten this before. Get a lawyer that will work on contingency for a percentage and make sure that punitive damages are involved. If you pay the lawyer hourly you will eat up that bonus before it’s earned.

Depends on your manager if you will get a bonus. I worked for a very toxic manager who did not give me a bonus or a raise. Not everyone is entitled to one. It is the same as getting a raise...depends if you have a great boss or a boss who is an a. Hole.

The official reply will be " As per our study, paying less bonus makes employees happy and more productive. But we won't share that study with you, it's classified" 🤣🤣🤣

You are not entitled to a bonus. It is 100% discretionary and managers can choose not to give bonus, raises or RSUs to any employee.

so funny, I saw my manager at the grocery store today too. I told him how crzy it was to see him in public, but I didn’t want to be a dou--e and bother him about work stuff on his day off.

He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”
I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.

The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.
