BoD has led Intel's destruction for the past decade and they all need to go. Nothing good is going to come out of this board.
If any advance nodes are good, it is time to bring them out and show the results. What happens right now seems to point to the other direction.
Frank Yeary is a loser.
Then why not micron , global foundries , Samsung fabs are not handed over to TSMC ? This is strategy to show to people some work is going on . Bottom line is the things that are setup will get a shakeup.
18a is good , it need sometime to get into production and settle down.
I don’t think TSMC is going to share their secret souce on the advanced nodes they are exploring or what out of the box they are doing . It will boil down to supply chain and cost.
Intel had a partner that could have showed them how to run the fabs, that was Micron. They now have Naga. They have the capability to become profitable and modernize and are on that path. This board is toxic. Frank and the rest of them need to go. The Fab is the jewel, it definitely isn't design...
I think letting TSMC running the fab is the best way to go. Given the fact that Frank leads the talk, Intel is not capable to keep up with the most advanced processes on its own. If so, to admit the fact and hand the fab over to the best player in the field is the smartest way to keep the overall competitiveness of US. It will also help the rest of Intel to survive. It is the time to swallow the pride and get down to your knees to honestly make good things happen.
