I’m now hearing from my friend in HR that we’re most likely moving to a full 5 days per week in office starting in 2026. Ugh!

Yeah the sh-t in the parking lot is just another foreshadowing of what’s to come once you arrive in potentially the most decrepit office building! Nothing works, internet slow as he-l, toilets that don’t flush, vending machines that take your money and then decide not to work. But hey it felt awesome being in here today on an otherwise WFH day if it wasn’t for Presidents Day. Let’s GTFOH!
They are moving a lot of us to the same floor for "collaboration", but I think it's simply to babysit us more... If they increase office days, it's just another way to monitor and watch us, and hope more people leave on their own so they don't have to do massive layoffs again. Certainly don't see the morale improving if this happens.
The only collaboration being done is the spread of germs. I physically feel like cr-p by 11 am on in office days. Not to mention having to navigate around the goose po-p walking to and from my car in Burlington.
False rumor but anything is possible
I know some people will say "Be thankful you have a job and you worked 5 days a week before". Sure, people are thankful, however not at the expense of your mental health.. Thing is when COVID hit, we had some of our best numbers because people were more productive - Forget even no reimbursement for having to upgrade your internet speed during that time, supplies you may have needed, etc, the bottom line is WE made it work.. Even when we were on alternate week's with our depts, we were still productive and the morale wasn't nearly as bad as it is now. Fast forward to now where simply the site of pulling into the parking lot on a Monday is nauseating let alone mentally preparing yourself for 3 days in the office..
I can't stand that having laptops never benefits the employees. When the weather calls for a nasty day never do we get the luxury of staying home.
Ok okay so before Covid we were in the office all the time right? They said they appreciate our home / work life balance and that they don't see any reason for us to have to be in the office 5 days per week. Either way why is it not being done Fairly?
What is fair? Fair = we must ALL be in office. Period. How can random people or groups be allowed to WFH full time while the rest of us are required to work in the office FT? See Canon this is my major point of contention. Be Fair. Be Honest. Be Respectful. Stop calling us Lazy Workers. You will get the same back from me but be Fair. Thank you.
I lose an hour in the morning on office days. I get online on WFH days at 7:00 AM. Office days, I get in at 8:00 if I’m lucky with traffic and / or last minute bridge openings which are completely random. I don’t clock in and out, but people who do have to make sure to arrive super early just in case there are traffic jams, accidents, etc. otherwise they get docked pay and reprimanded. On WFH days, I stay on after 5:00, but on office days I got to pack up, deal with traffic again, get resettled at home, get dinner going. There’s no friggin way I’m pulling my laptop out after cooking and cleaning up. I’m absolutely exhausted, not just from working all day, but the journey to and from the office. At home I can make a cup of coffee. whereas in the office, I have to PAY for some junky instant sludge. At home, I can go to the bathroom in peace without waiting on somebody hogging up a stall, wa----g off to po-nography on their phone. Most importantly, it’s QUIETER at home. I don’t have to listen to chatty women all day talk about NON-WORK RELATED topics.
I know for me personally, (and prob a ton of other people) we are way more productive WFH than being in the office . The financial numbers aren't changing because we are in the office.. Nobody is collaborating on anything, and let's be honest nobody wants to deal with the horrendous morale that you experience while being in the office..
As mentioned by several people in response to the deleted obnoxious Executive post - we need a union.
Working from home is a benefit. They are taking away our established benefits.
If they look at the recent studies they would learn that majority does not want or need to be in the office 5 days a week. I personally love going into the office on my hour and 20 commute (my choice I know) only to be on the teams call with everyone in my department. That collaboration could be done from my home office where I get tenfold done compared to being in the office.
The gradual return approach allows the company to reduce staff without paying severance—they're simply doing it slowly for greater control. Unfortunately, the most talented and hardworking employees are often the first to leave, knowing they can find better pay, working conditions, and work-life balance elsewhere.
Whether returning to the office full time makes sense depends on the role, but I sympathize with those who spend 90% of their day in Teams meetings, even when they're in the office. That kind of work can be done from anywhere.
