With the push to the "dealership" reps it's going to be interesting going forward. Your measurement business was pushed onto the reps and now with the old Daniel leadership under MSS the slow death will continue. Anyone with any intelligence has jumped ship, literally all that is left is the middle management bootlicker that could not get a job anywhere else due to a lack of actual skills.

A slow, painful death of a once mighty industrial conglomerate.

Speaking of IBM’s demise, it’s fitting that Farr is on their board.

Of the people I know who left 5 years ago they all have better jobs, not just in title but in pay.

Thinking back to the early 2000s, around the time Charles F. Knight retired, Emerson was really diverse. You had those strong segments: Process Management, Industrial Automation, Network Power, Climate Technologies, and Tools & Storage. They were all pumping out new products, investing heavily in R&D. Now, it's largely narrowed down to Automation Solutions.

It kind of brings to mind what happened at IBM with Ginni Rometty in-charge, doesn't it?

NA lost a lot of talent about 6-7 years ago before Farr eventually got tossed. (Yes, he was forced out.). They never really recovered so what you see now is the second and third tier leadership taking the helm simply because everyone had left.

I took note of the comment in regard to patents. I say this not out of spite, but has anyone really looked at the patents Emerson owns? The reality is that several of them are indefensible, checking into ones I took a notion to research. I personally was implementing several of those patents for other companies years before Emerson's patent date, making those patents "prior art" IMHO. If one doesn't believe that the patent process and thus the patent office is not sc--wed up, research the true patent lineage of the optical PC mouse we all use. Keep in mind that patent research is a function of the patentee, sort of like putting a fox in charge of the h-nhouse. So, basing Emerson technology prowess on the number of patents has no equality to actual R&D.

Well, the new marketing heads needs to justify her job. They could have come up with some original if they decided to solicit advise from folks who have working in the field for the past 30-40 years.

Who knows what goes on in St. Louis when these decisions are made..

Go boldly overseas, go boldly in a new job, go boldly at another company, go boldly into another career path… definitely a BOLD motto 🙄 marketing at its best! “GO!”

Just to add a few more points to the discussion below. There are too many young MBA currently at St. Louis who don't understand business well enough. When you have 25/26 years old with no real world experience on track to become VP/GM what do you expect?

If Emerson thinks they can get away with only selling software, then perhaps they don't deserve to be a company anymore.

When was a last time, Emerson truely launched ground breaking product? And please don't tell me more patents == more innovation.

Emerson was an engineering company providing engineering solutions. In 2010s our slogan was "If it can't be solved, consider it done".

Now it is "Go Boldly". Whatever that suppose to mean. Go Boldly Overseas perhaps..

It feels like just another sales company trying to copy others in the worst way possible..

Mostly agree with what been stated below. I had similar experiences.

Blaming DEI and others for stupid decisions made by upper management is simply done to score political points. It does not really solves the real issues here: competency and organic growth through quality innovation. This most top level leaders at Emerson don't really understand this concept. If they did we probably won't be having this conversation.

You can buy all the companies you want using stockholders money. But you can't buy company's culture.

Been here long enough to remember when this organization could think, though even then thinking outside the box was always an issue... Ya know when the Board ( and the (ir)relevant CEO's) rear wasn't owned by Fink and company(s). There's always been a issue with Emerson developing something truly a technology game-changer. They can purchase something using stockholder funds and run it into the ground, but present ideas that could produce income, for-getta-bout-it! No mangers here will stand for an idea they didn't come up with or they can't hijack later. Now add the WOKE stupidness, the CRT cr-p, the D.I.E. initiatives that only alienate employees. Then for good measure take away benefits such sick days and redistribute these to noobs as more vacation days on the front end, all the while paying ppl below the bell curve, then frankly I'm concerned about your intuition regarding your "Why?" question

Mainly, Folks come here to vent. Layoffs discussion is frowned upon where I work. I was told "you can leave anytime you want if you are not happy here". So much for retention policy.

I take everything posted here with a grain of salt.

It is less loosing talent and more like constant firing and layoffs. If you stay you will inevitably get fired or laid off.

Also moving jobs to Pune. Farr lied to Trump’s face a few years ago when he said EMR would bring manufacturing back to the U.S., and nobody called him on it. It’s only gotten worse with the current corporate regime.

Clearly, they are making decisions that are not in America best interest with outsourcing jobs to Mexico and China. If anyone is listening, Tax these a--holes at 100 percent. It needs to be Buy American and hire American imperative.

Moving up Managers under the "Friends and Family Plan" at Fisher in Motown, who knows nothing about the new role but think they do creates alot of openings under them for more "Friends and Family" soon who knows the job and who will get laid off. Not the Friends and Family!

Nothing new. NA has been losing talent for years. RM and AM share a bit of the blame. Pay lags, company isn’t interested in investing in people, and eschew hiring practices that attract qualified talent at the same time.

Layoffs, Outsourcing, Poor Pay and Management. They have constantly laying off people since 2020.

ASCO New Jersey team effectively gutted entire development teams across Virginia, Michigan, Kentucky, Illinois and other states. They moved teams to Overseas to low cost countries.

Fu-k You ASCO NJ...
