Thread regarding Meta / Facebook layoffs

February Layoffs

Is anyone else surprised at some of the layoffs?

I have seen some people in roles that I would have thought were a shoe in for redundancy end up staying while there have been others who have been doing a good job who were axed.

I had actually thought I was a shoe in myself as the area I work in doesn't get a lot of love from senior management.

Maybe it's just me, but I didn't see any evidence that DEI types were being disproportionally effected.

They tried to give me notice that I was laid off but I just held my fist up and screamed BLACK POWER over and over again until they took back the lay off notice and moved on to someone else.

I was watching the news like 6 months ago. The anchor was saying how AI is not working good enough to provide any value. Also the guy said this lastest generation doesn't use online games much. They are into tatoos. Probably this trend will continue. doesn't matter what meta does. That news anchor guy was right.

D-mb. I can only surmise that HR asked AI for layoff advice. Now imagine the dystopian future our children will inherit when we out source decision making to AI.
