Yes, I’m grateful to still have a job, but that’s about the only thing I’m grateful for. The reality is, I’m overworked, underpaid, and surrounded by toxic people every single day. It’s exhausting. The more I think about it, the more it feels like the ones who were let go might have been the lucky ones. Optum may have forced their hand, but I can’t imagine how they ended up in a worse position than those of us still stuck here.

Yes. We ARE the lucky ones. Devoted decades as a high performer. Tried to make things better by giving honest feedback. Worked tons of OT to continue delivering results with a skeleton crew only to be replaced with people in India making a fraction of my salary. It is a toxic company that cares only about money for shareholders and doesn’t give a sh-t about employees or members. The company wasn’t always bad, my management & team was amazing in the first decade, but top down changes and company values changed along the way. I spent a lot of time grieving the loss of those days before I was even cut. And yes, I’ll gladly take the severance I’ve EARNED and the unemployment I’ve EARNED from working steady since I was 18. I’ll use that while I recover from that awful place and ready myself to move on to the next thing. I wish you the best being stuck there until you get the caught up in a RIF. To the person who says you’re a taker for wanting severance.… sc--w you. Not everyone who wishes for severance wants a free ride in life. Just want some time to be able to decompress and have the means to move on to the next thing.
I understand what you mean. We had an amazing team before and now we're seeing it completely taken apart and losing some of our long term coworkers.
You dare say people WANT severance and unemployment and WE’RE the toxic ones? PATHETIC!!!! We want dignity in our jobs and not to be harassed by amoebas like you who’s daddies never loved them
If you're surrounded by such toxic people then QUIT. Be "one of the lucky ones" and get away. Oh, but you won't cause you're a taker, you want your severance and then collect unemployment. You probably just want a free ride in life. I am grateful for my job & love it.
Maybe you're the one that is toxic!
