Meta laid off 5% off of its workforce because the employees were "underperforming." Meta is using this tactic to avoid paying severance to those employees. Many of those employees had achieved and exceeded performance reviews. It is only a matter of time when Medtronic will use this tactic and not pay RIF employees severance. Hail shareholders.

Meta pays severance to employees who are laid off, including 16 weeks of base pay plus two weeks for each year of service. The severance package also includes:
Remaining paid time off (PTO)
Stock vested through the next pay period
Six months of health insurance
Three months of career support
Immigration assistance
Payment for outstanding stock awards
