Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Qualcomm Got Talent!!

Just saw this posting on LinkedIn by one of our very talented Indian engineer:

"" Calling all Freshers! Qualcomm is hiring for 2024/2025 passouts. I'm committed to referring 10 students per day until the position is filled! ""

Wait till you see the comments section on his profile.

Sad state of some of our recent hires.. must have got hired thru friends and family connections you think? :-(

I once declined a Sr. Director job offer to train an India Team mmWave IC design, and chose to be individual contributor at Q, same story!

"If I were the CEO making over $30 million a year..."
Said another way, CA has 82,192 reasons a day to eliminate your job and move it to India. See, it's simple math.

If I were the CEO making over $30 million a year and my job depends on saving money for the company and shareholders, I would move as many jobs as possible to India, Mexico etc…

"Once the hire-who-you-know mentality becomes a dominant treat, it's the inevitable end."

The merit based society died a while ago. Only white su-kers believed in it.
All the other folks took advantage of them and hired their own kind.

Headcount in QIPL is already double the headcount in SD. Race to the bottom! Q gonna be the next Intel, similar pattern. Once the hire-who-you-know mentality becomes a dominant treat, it's the inevitable end.

When I worked at Qualcomm a few years ago, a co-worker told me to not to say anything bad about anybody I worked with because there were close friends and family members working together. Then I found out that one of my team members was my manager's daughter's roommate in college, who had studied pre-med which had nothing to do with telecommunications or technology. Of course she was given prime opportunities and career building assignments. Go figure.

Nepotism in the workplace refers to the practice of favoring relatives or close friends for job opportunities, promotions, or other benefits, often regardless of their qualifications. This can lead to unfair advantages and negatively impact employee morale and organizational culture.

"Qualcomm got talent? Not at the managerial level."

When I look up, all I see are clowns, not an engineer in sight.

We reach the point where it is either us or the 2 stooges cristiano and akash. We must force them out of the company. I am even thinking to call the big shareholders and let them know.

"From a business perspective It makes total sense to hire in india when one employee from California costs as much as 5 or more in India."

we probably should be moving those jobs to countries in Africa
they can't perform any worse plus the saving will be extraordinary
but we need to start at the top of Q with the vastly overpaid non-engineers
who cannot create

From a business perspective It makes total sense to hire in india when one employee from California costs as much as 5 or more in India. Generally speaking, one can ask himself if his job could be done elsewhere: the answer is yes for most non innovative jobs ; if the job requires security clearance for instance, the job cannot be outsourced

Referral does not carry the same weight in all countries. It carries next to no value in India. Just another way to make LinkedIn connections or cash in companies like Amazon.
