Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

Where's the merchandise?

Former longtime associate here. Stopped into my former store to pick up a dish drainer and to say hi to former coworkers. No dish drainers on hand other than one priced at 99.99!
I have not been in for over a year and was shocked that only one person I worked with was still there. The sheet room was dummied with various merchandise as was the pillow room----No bed pillows at all, hardly any sheets or mattress pads.
I don't see the company staying in business with nothing to sell. What the he-l is the plan?

Walked in a Bbb in central Fl. It’s been 2 years. Sad how the shampoo was strategically placed to look like the shelves were full. Only 1 big sale of overpriced cr-p on the side wall. They will just sell it all to Amazon. Like Toys r us did.

I was let go in September, with everyone else that was. I went to pick up my curbside order yesterday, and the place was a ghost town. Sunday at noon used to be hopping. But the one thing that did stand out when I walked in, was the old power wall lined with dozens of cake domes and such from the Our Table brand at reduced price. I chuckled.

And the stores are only going to be emptier once we sell all this merchandise from the warehouse event. That is the merchandise we use to fill other holes.

When the merchandise comes in it goes right back out for online orders.

Yup, no plan. If you listen to management in my store things are looking up as we can now see things are on order when most things used to say zero. Well that's not good enough! We've lost so many loyal customers as well as employees due to lack of hours and merchandise. It's so freaking embarrassing to have to offer to order things when folks can do that themselves from the comfort of their own homes.

Well merchandise is slowly trickling in now but it's not what customers want and mostly seasonal at this point. And the work hours are ticking up too but I'm sure it's temporary and I'm so done. This coming week is my last with the company because i got a new job. I am the only one remaining from our former floor and cashier crew. We had a mass exodus in September and I still tried to stick it out as long as I could. But I just know that after the new year the hours will go away again. The next list of closures will also come out and I'm not waiting to get caught out there. On to better opportunities. I'm out!
