Dell may have been researching AI and even quantum computing but let’s face it or marketing people were caught totally flat-footed by AI’s sudden appearance in the media a couple of years back. We’ve been playing catchup ever since.

Should call it Project Goose…. The moves are inevitably an ejection that will break the neck of the company when the canopy doesn’t open.

There's no way a 50k head count is going to happen
Head count has been at 120k for 5 years

Rumour has it (already leaked by a lot of managers) that several locations (including some high-profile) about to be closed down as part of cost-cutting and the affected folks will be given severance packages. The goal is to bring the headcount down to 50k or less and become an AI focused company. The RTO of 5 days a week is a way to get folks to leave on their own accord and make life harder. All in the name of cost-cutting. Rumours going around that Nvidia is buying into Dell.

The success of this whole thing is dependent on how well Anthony Davis does. We'll have to take a wait and see approach.
