WFH and meeting blocks, anyone know what’s up?

Just goes to show you that no one is safe. These people climbed to the upper echelons of the aldi hierarchy and they still got canned.
ABs are okay for now, I guess?
So are the Associate Buyers good? I feel like that was a lot of lead up
Every person who was eliminated was a name I recognized; they were long term employees. 8 people just lost their careers during a cost of living crisis. That severance package had better be generous.
What a slap in the face for long time BDs like KB. 25 years and this is what he gets?!
1 group buying director and 7 buying directors were eliminated in the US. They briefly mentioned the layoffs in GBIE at the end.
US meeting just ended. 1 GBD and I think 7 BDs are being let go. They are going to bring in more buying managers that will have a roll more like our current BDs and BDs will have a more overarching roll over commodities. They didn't say anything about any layoffs for anyone else..... we have more team specific meetings in the afternoon.
some US Buying Directors who have been here forever were given the choice of demotion, or taking a severance package. Otherwise buying is now "globally aligning" whatever the he-l that means.
I don’t really understand why it’s so important that everyone’s roles are aligned internationally. Like who cares if things work differently in other countries?
This is just insulting at this point, get to the point
It’s almost time, USA. Whatever happens, we need to seriously talk about unionizing. This can’t continue. We outnumber them and they can’t treat us like this.
Boasting in the UK media about creating 1600 jobs but then making a significant amount of people redundant at head office is disgusting
Sad times - i hope they give people plenty of time to find a new job - it looks like this will impact all the ALDI business areas in the long run
GB buying director numbers being significantly reduced and all buying admin assistants being made redundant. Admin tasks being outsourced to India by end of 2025. Buying assistants at the moment remain unaffected.
Are they outsourcing Associate Buyers?
UK: All Finance and Special Buy Staff will be made redundant by Dec 2025, due to outsourcing to India, and Germany taking over buying responsibility. We are being given options.
“Growth for the sake of growth is the ideology of the cancer cell”
I used to think this company was better than that. I guess I was naive.
Wow, is this the act of kindness they have been preaching? I love how Jason Hart just told the media he appreciates all of our hard work making us the fastest growing grocery store. He thanks us by outsourcing us to India. Great business model.
Wait what?? ALL buying??
UK announcement - The communication is slightly different for everyone. Essence is all buying and finance is moving to India. Some by the end of the year and some over the next 2 years. The notice period for those impacted now runs until 31/12/25. Good luck everyone
But did they make you have your camera on as they delivered this news
Were the people directed to come into the office today the only ones directly impacted by the news? Or do the teams that will be gone by 2027 include people that worked from home today?
who was laid off today and how many people in total?
In GB some teams will be gone by November this year and others by 2027 - when AHEAD rollout is finished in stores. Been told they will receive further details directly depending on what team you are in.
Anyone else in the US side-eyeing the multiple articles about Jason traveling to stores all over the country? How much did that cost?
@UK colleagues: Is the layoff effective immediately? Or are they giving everyone time to make arrangements? I’m so sorry this is happening.
Associate Buyers or GB assistants?
UK here
Meeting will be held in around 25 minutes.
Looks like GB buying admin and finance admin are to be affected due to outsourcing to India.
The US meeting is in 3 hours
Australia meetings are Friday so US will hear first
Regardless of what the news is, talk of unionizing should be serious for those who are left. This is a moment that matters.
I saw on Reddit it's Buying support assistant too
Who would fall under the GB finance team? I haven't heard of that here in the states
Comment on Reddit says the below:
Hi all, this is just to say ALDI GB finance department is being outsourced to India. If you have been asked to come into the office then you will most likely be affected.
Any news from any country??
Is there any news from Australia??
What time were the Australian meetings?
Goodnight fellow US Buying Team. Hoping for us all for tomorrow. Will report back if I need to expand my LinkedIn Network - signing off
It’s middle of the day Thursday in Australia. Anyone hear anything?
I think it's crazy to do the whole construction of Batavia, add the parking garage to restructure and let us go.
