Too Many Managers???

Anyone at BP UK got a manager in recent <2yrs who is less experienced than them ? And wonder what he/she/they do all day ?

Even worse are the ones with "Special Projects" in their title. That's code for not having a real role, but we are going to protect you. Most frustrating when they are E level and above.

The chain of command is too long. To positions above my line manager could easily be removed, and no one would notice :)

They are useless.

Same in the US. In the past year there have been unexplained promotions of mid-level managers while at the same time leadership has been warning of layoffs. It’s clear they are positioning favorites to either save them from layoffs or ensure they get a better package when they get let go.

There are people a grade G and I am an H.
They have NO clue of things and say fancy words and present business material.
Ask them a real Q and crumble !!!

Is true they get UK £10K car allowance on top the increased salary and %bonus?

There are two problems with managers at BP:

  1. There are too many of them.
  1. Contextless management—have you ever done X-X? No? Cool, now you’re a VP/Director of X-X. And this is happening everywhere.
