Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

I copied this from Reddit.

Big IAM/shop layoff in April due to over-hiring for rates that never materialized. Then another significant support layoff will be in June to re-balance support/touch ratios. Then once the dust settles, and word is there will be a LOT of dust, they will have one last layoff in Sep/Oct to balance the manager ratios.

Sorry, but Boeing is hiring more IAM. We are putting out 9 new openings from the street right now.

Iam 751 should be terminated. Selfish Union employees do not, did not have loyality in Boeing and wished the worst for company.
BOEING does not need employees like that.
We can only hope the Iam 751 employees will be downsized now considering they are the main cause for so much discontent.
Layoffs for Iam 751, A BLESSED SUBTRACTION.

Boeing over hired because they felt the new hires would more likely vote to ratify a new contract. As soon as a contract is signed, they want to layoff as many of them as they can.

That’s the same old Boeing playbook. Next to reduce cost outsource as much engineering as they can to some third world country.

None of the CEOs actually have ideas too improve the company. All they can think of is outsource jobs and lay people off.

Apices become a very unstable career and as many of the older employees are retiring, I don’t see a new wave of young people interested in a career in this field. I think Boeing is going to have serious issues when they try to re-hire for a new program.

Aerospace engineering was the fourth highest unemployment rate for new college grads.

IAM overtired to try and influence the vote and get a quicker ratification of a contract.

With current production rates, it is totally feasible for the company to lay off many more workers. The company is in trouble. Any savings will help. I am being realistic: Boeing is not making money now (regardless of whose fault it is). Boeing needs to cut expenses. I wish this would never happen, but Boeing is about 13,000 short of the layoff goal... The company has been good to me. I hope restrictions from Boeing will be lifted soon and we will start making money again.

Nope. IAM is already hiring again slowly. Several new hires in last week already.
