Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Exempt Employees

Just wondering if anyone else feels like management takes total advantage of exempt employees? Example, my fellow non-exempt team members take their lunch, two fifteen minute breaks and are logged off right on time everyday. However, us exempt team members work through lunch, take no breaks except to use the bathroom or grab a coffee, and work late everyday.

Signed,
Burned out

I give them nothing extra. Nothing.

You better not take any breaks or lunch if you work for my director. She expects you to be chained to your desk all day. But, she can be gone whenever she wants. She has her calendar blocked on Friday afternoons. I laugh when I see her teams status as away.

I ask myself "are they paying me as if I'm indispensable and the company will collapse the minute I step away?", the answer is obviously no, so I don't act as if all those tasks can only be done by me and right now. Relax, no one is that important. The earth will keep on spinning. If your leadership pushes back, train them to get used to your new pace like Pavlov trained those dogs ;)

I so wish CVS would offer an employment buyout like the Fed is.

Yep, if you work in a dept with production metrics, they'll set them so high that their impossible to meet within 40hrs. Never take an exempt job with production metrics!

You must work in appeals…insane metrics that have to be made daily. Do yourself a favor and get the heck out of that toxic environment. I did and my physical and mental health are sooo much better!

I say this very kindly, but it sounds like you are letting this happen. Start taking your lunch and breaks, and don't stay late "every day", only when absolutely necessary. It's not like you are going to get a big bonus and a promotion for your hard work. It doesn't sound like they told you that you have to do this, it just happened over time. Trust me, been there and done that, but you have to take control of your own work hours, otherwise I just seeing it getting worse. They have no reason to hire another person if you are willing to do it all yourself.
