Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Why do you stay?

Why do you stay?

This questioned was asked of me by a colleague who is leaving the company. It really made me think, why do I stay? Its not an ideal place to work anymore (post covid) the benefits are not great and the pay is not in line with the industry.

They keep replacing tenured colleagues and managers with kids who have no investment in the company or loyalty. They are a cheap salary or hourly rate. This is part of the reason tenured colleagues are departing in large numbers. It is not our responsibility or role to train these managers, that would be in the store manager. This task is put onto other managers who cant even find time to do their own job, so they get frustrated and ultimately leave the company.

Is that what they want?

I am curious as to what everyone's thoughts are

I agree with so much of what you said.
To be completely honest-I’ve been looking. Applied. A couple Interviews. Haven’t had really any luck. Part of it may be being picky-but a bigger piece is fear. Morally beat down to the point where you worry how you’d do somewhere else. The feeling that the he-l situation you know is safer than that unknown.
Again, just analyzing myself here.
