Thread regarding Broadcom Corp. layoffs

RTO RIF begins

I received my "RTO offer" via DocuSign yesterday. Either move 280 miles to work from the nearest office, or receive a severance package.

The decision is a no-brainer. None of my coworkers are in the same region, much less country. Working from an office to work remotely is the definition of Kafkaesque.

RTO does not apply to everyone

There are so few exemptions that, in practice, RTO applies to everyone.

You know JonO from Symantec gets to work from home in his sweatpants from Texas. RTO does not apply to everyone.

Were you offered a choice on which office or did they just choose the closest office?

Best of luck. Transitioning to a new job is a PIA, but in the long run you'll be happy to work at a normal company again. I know I am. Everyone's calculus is different, but for me the extra $$ wasn't worth the tension of constantly looking over my shoulder.

Good luck, there are many other companies providing Remote work, except they many not match the TC here. When is the last date to move to nearest office?

It doesn't matter which division I'm in. Hock has been clear that RTO is a company-wide policy. If you are in AMER, expect it to happen. If you're lucky enough to be in a worker's guild or union overseas, it's only a matter of time.
