The thought of RTO 5 days and being stuck 45 mins each way in the car is dreadful for me.
All this talk of layoffs and RTO fulltime is putting my chronic IBS into a frenzy
Do you think I can get a medical exception from RTO?

There might be a possibility you can stay remote due to your condition. Talk to your manager and see if an exception can be made. If you have an understanding manager you might be able to continue working remote. Good luck!
I don't think it will be a problem to get a medical exception. It's just human decency to allow it.
Some people are being je-ks in the comments. Don’t listen to them. They are just tired of working here and being stressed out. Get a doctors note that states it’s a medical condition and that you need to work from home. From there see what HR says. I’m hoping you get good news. However with how bad things are, just prepare for the worst okay?
TMI 😬
Please feel free to stay home with that IBS issue lol
You need more fibre in your diet buddy.
Try. It's not like Dell actually care about you. Just reciprocate
Yes, You can submit Dr's notice to request work from home.
And Dell also has the right to layoff you.
Fair.
I’m speechless.
Seems you’re trying to overhype a medical condition to avoid working?
From the Web:
Yes, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) can be considered a disability under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) if its symptoms substantially limit a major life activity, like work, meaning that if your IBS significantly impacts your daily life, you may be eligible for reasonable accommodations in the workplace under the ADA.
It's just a f_cking job
I'm actually going to reach out to my psychologist to see if she can provide documentation to submit to HR for anxiety. 10 hours a day away from where I live is going to ki-l me
If you can provide that severity of your condition as a "disability" then yes you can try, you may qualify with proper documentation. Talk to your HR.
Try citing your medical need and push for Remote. Your health is important and not stupid Dell that cares the least for any of its employees. If RTO is mandated after your request, ensure you start searching for a good company and keep applying, interviewing. Leaving Dell will give you mental peace and keep you positive, instead of dealing with Dell cr-p, politics, RTO and layoffs.
