Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Just curious, not hating

I read many ex-Dell employees posting on this page. If Dell is in your rear mirror, why do you come back on here?

I'm just curious, not hating on you. Some posts are genuinely good advice, others negative. That's all fine, for me when I'm gone, I can't see myself even thinking about this page nevermind coming on to post.

Just looking forward to the fall of Dell. One of the worst run companies I've ever seen. Dell will not exist in 5 years because of how poorly they treat their employees.

New job is amazing and thank hod I left when I did. Feel horrible for those who can't walk away because they need the money.

I am ashamed to admit that I threw myself into my work for over 17 years. My job became my identity. I have had a difficult time separating from that place I cannot name. I should have sought counselling. Coming here somehow helps me make sense of it all and validates my suspicions that I was never truly appreciated.

You pour your heart and soul into an occupation for 30 or 40 years, then have some id--t manager make life changing decisions in your life. Its called walk a mile mile in someone else's shoes. I was hired at EMC in 1993 then volunteered for layoff in 2023. Make fun all you want to. Imagine people who actually loved their work. Its sad younger people cant Imagine the best decade of Mainframe computer maintenance. We older IT people are here with you now. You were nor there with us 20, 30, 40 years ago.

I come back because I still have a couple of friends at the company. Most of the time I hear the rumors from them, but peruse this site to see if anyone else I know is affected. The expression “Dell is He-l” is correct and really becomes clear once you are out. Also, the other reason I visit the Dell page is to know if a layoff is coming and whether I should expect people “networking”. My standard is “if you couldn’t be bothered to acknowledge me when I worked there, don’t come to me hat in hand when you are on the street.”

Just like the poster mentioned below. This is not hard work and one of many online social media sites I visit throughout the day.
Visiting/posting here while I am on the toilet seems amazingly appropriate.

I care about a lot of the people i used to work with. Maybe I hope to help them if they happen to be here? I couldn't express my feelings fully while I worked with them but maybe I can help now. All the ICs I worked with were great people and they deserve to know that it can be better. It's valid to leave this place after you leave dell but it's also valid to help others. The j3rks that are rude can go. Some people like to watch the world burn.

Why do you make the assumption that it’s in someone’s rear view mirror? Perhaps they want to express some grievances that they weren’t able too before. Not everyone can sever relationships so easily. Good people are humans and have feelings that should be respected when need be. Just my two cents
