Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Anyone Else Loading Up?

DeepSeek just delivered a knockout blow. OpenAI, Anthropic, and the rest of these LLM builders have duped everyone into thinking you need big gassed-up GPUs.

You do - but for an AGI that’s still 5 years away. We’re fast approaching “good enough” for many OT workloads, and that can (and will) happen on accelerated IA.

Buy those Intel call options or just pick up the stock and hold on to the rocket ship!

Bah ha haha ha.... Knockout blow? The OP has a flair for drama... It isn't even the end of the first inning and the rate of innovation is still accelerating... No, the game has just begun.

You know you are building top notch products when you are looking to fulfill the "good enough" market segment... any rocket ship Intel will be involved with will look like SpaceX's last super heavy launch.

The pioneers may end up with arrows in their back but that is not a win for Intel.

AI closely resembles the pattern of the internet in the 1990s, where Cisco and Global Crossing got huge then built too much capacity and got crushed.

Meanwhile tariffs are likely to slow down the already slowing global economy and that will further depress CPU sales.

If Intel sticks with GPU development and produces a more compelling AI solution then that could be something good. If AI workloads lighten up then it could be that CUDA loses some of its competitive moat.

They did some things to the code set with mixture of experts and attention to minimize memory usage, and they did some work at the hardware level (reschedule sending schedule) to go around the nerfed interconnects they were restricted to buying.

OpenAI, Anthropic, xAI, along with Microsoft and Facebook, are in trouble. Overspent and too soon. Who knows what Alibaba is doing over there and what will spring up out of other countries not on entity list that are able to aggregate n-2 GPUs.

I, and others, not buying any where north of $16. That makes you a bag holder. Sorry

So you have actually been able to verify the infrastructure and code behind DeepSeek or are you just accepting what they say?
