I am an engineer in one of the core teams in Cork Ireland and I just got an email that my last day with VMware / Broadcom is the end of March 2025

Its been a good ride and a bitter end
Good luck to everyone else in Cork

The "old" terms and conditions for redundancy were only guaranteed in Ireland up until the 20th/19th January 2025, check your emails from HR from around this time last year.

I don't know what the new terms are, maybe they kept the old terms, but, the guarantee was only until Jan 2025.

Also, TUPE was not applicable when Broadcom took over vmware, this was explicitly stated during the Ireland consultation period.

To echo previous comment, service start date was always kept, even after signing the Broadcom contract.
This was also reflected in redundancy packages of people who were let go after the signing the Broadcom contract

That's not true, in Ireland when employees switched to broadcom, their contracts stated the entity that employees them is still VMware. Statutory and tenure still comes into play. Such sh-t trolling

Due to signing a new contract we were all put down as new into broadcom and for redundancy you must work for the company at least 2 years. They are Not counting the years that was worked in VMware as that company is no longer around

I remember that vmware hired too many under-qualified people in Ireland during pandemic for getting tax benefits. It's surprising that BC still kept them.

The thing is even statutory redundancy would be offered. I don't know if this post is valid at all....

Hey OP, just saw your post about no redundancy being offered this year, that absolutely su-ks. Guess loyalty isn't rewarded anymore, either way best of luck with the job hunt.

OP here!

No redundacy package this time, Questioned it and was told that I should have taken the redundacy package last year when it was offered.

Best of luck on your job hunt. Can you elaborate on redundancy offer, are they not offering any redundancy, only statutory or is it that the package is less than the 6 weeks per year offered in previous rounds?

Ah sure, I’m really sorry to hear you’ll be let go in March. It’s a tough time to be job hunting, no doubt. I was in the same boat myself last year after over 10 years in VMware, so I know how rough it is. Get your CV polished up and start the search now—you’ll land on your feet, no worries!

Best of luck, can you tell us what the package is, how many weeks a year?

Sorry OP here
No real redundancy package compared to what it was 12 months ago. The unvested shares that I was promised last week are being taken back.

Take my advice and get out before its too late. I am now updating my CV and will start applying for positions tomorrow.

As many posters have stated… Partners are being asked to shoulder all the costs of doing business. There is not need for any Broadcom staff except for some smooth talking sales and marketing employees. Partners and customers will eventually figure this out and move on to other companies that are investing in their product and supporting it properly. At that point, when profits fall below HT’s line of doom, Broadcom will sell off pieces or the whole of what remains to a vulture capitalist entity. This is the churn of building nothing and making money in the modern era.
