Thread regarding G6 / Motel 6 / Studio 6 layoffs

Health insurance cancelled?

Is health insurance canceled? As of April 1? What happens if you’ve signed up for COBRA? Are they providing an alternative? They are contractually required to cover the severance period in our severance agreements….

When you mentioned “HR” above, I hope you mean Oyo HR-which seems pretty much nonexistent and definitely ignorant of US labor laws (or else willfully part of the conspiracy). Because those left in the original G6 HR team (there can’t be more than a few at this point), are I’m sure doing the best they can. They are sadly no longer the decision makers.

The fact that they only replied AFTER employees discovered insurance was canceled (and quickly tried to reverse the cancellation to save face), just shows how sc-mmy and frankly sh---y EVERYONE in OYO Leadership and HR are. OYO is nothing more than a completely heartless and corrupt organization that only employs ego driven cowards. The irony being these complicit HR/Executive OYO a--holes who are he-l-bent on sc--wing everyone (employees & vendors), get paid less than a door greeter at Walmart. They deserve nothing but failure and lawsuits.

A memo from Oyo finally went out this week, but it doesn’t say what the replacement will be, just that there will be one. I think they weren’t ready to announce it and then were surprised when people enrolled in Aetna started hearing about it (duh). They have no clue what they are doing and no business doing business in the American workplace until they learn to respect the rule of law.

Those enrolled in cobra have not received any sort of notice from G6. Per severance agreement, they are covering cobra for the same amount of time as their severance payments. So they need to be communicating with us. Messing with healthcare is so f’d up, but at this point, I expect nothing more of them. They really don’t seem to care about legal repercussions at all. I think Oyo strategy is going to be to let people sue them and then drag out lawsuits until people settle.
