Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Laid Off

I just got laid off.

Dell is a good company to work for, with great benefits. I'd work there again. Like any company, it depends on the team you work with. There are good ones and bad ones.

Emancipated in 2023 after 24 years and thought I would really feel a loss in identity and sadness. Felt that way for a good 12 hours or so.

Dell is not good. I was laid off in August. When you get your next role at a different company, it will be shocking to realize how terrible it was to be at Dell.

I hope the severance package was good and will be helpful until you find your next opportunity...
Good Luck for your journey!

That’s the problem, it isn’t anymore; a good place to work. My wife asked how I was feeling and my answer is that it is oddly ok. I’m not upset, wasn’t dead weight, could clearly see my manager was surrounding himself with lower skillsets. For the last 18 months I’ve been underutilized, proactively engaged cross functionally to forge valuable partnerships for our org, maintained 100% goals to completion and began supporting modern Dell by identifying where our group could transform, reduce and accelerate. Hindsight - this threatened the sh*t out of my Manager. I’ll take this windfall and go elsewhere.

Sorry to hear you got laid off. Dell WAS a good company. Those days are long gone and it will never be the same.

Denial is one of the stages that you will go through, then you’ll get to the acceptance stage and it’ll go uphill from then on.

Take your time to process things and I’m sure you’ll come out stronger and with a better job eventually!
