Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Sick and tired of these unannounced forced laptop reboots by IT

Why the fudge can't windows updates and system patches be done in a way that does not impact work at this company? I hate the way they just force reboot at random times (weekday, weekend) without any consideration for people's work. When (not if) I quit .. this nonsense will be in the top 5 reasons. I can't be the only person that hates cr-p!

PC reboots on its own outside active hours so you don't complain that you're getting rebooted during work hours after you ignore all the notifications and run up against the end of the grace period during your meeting where you don't talk or do anything at all. Any modern application will restart automatically right where you left off on login. If you have some old a-s internally developed legacy app than old standards apply - save your work before you walk away. Alternatively, put some actual effort into modernizing Intel sh-t-ware or just crank the wheel on that app developed 15 years ago.

You are not very good at solving your own problems.

Then I fit right in.

Simple solution, reboot your laptop on your own at least once a week when it doesn’t impact your work. It only takes a few minutes. You are not very good at solving your own problems.

Dear OP. Why complain about your IT in a layoff forum? You are better off submitting a ticket to the TAC instead!

Cry me a river. Nothing runs on your local system, everything checkpoints, your just looking for any reason to convey your petty grievances, even to people who could give 2 sh--s

Who works in tech and doesn't understand

It's not that it must be done, it's how (disruptively and without concern) they go about it.

Who works in tech and doesn't understand the security impetus in keeping end points up to date, especially in this geopolitical context? Of course it can be disruptive, but less so than remaining vulnerable to exploits that are and will be leveraged by malicious actors.

Can you quit already? If you cannot read notifications or setup your pc, what are you doing in the IT company?
