I was talking with some colleagues and we think Cargill might have just made up the whole thing about laying people off in Europe as well. Is it just a myth? European colleagues seem pretty unharmed so far.

It was not performance driven, but also not consultant driven. So called top leaders of Cargill are the ones choosing who to keep and who to let go. So cowardly of them to not just be real and admit, and put it on the consultants.
Long story short, if you are affected don't take it personally. It is NOT performance based.
The consultants ran their models to save the most money and initiate change. There is no personality here, you are a number in a data-science lottery machine.
115 in UK, no criteria given. It all seems pretty random. Cargill giving very little information in the "consultations". We should know who is going in early March.
Today, the impacted roles in Spain were announced. They called each person one by one to confirm. There are approximately 50 positions in Spain impacted.
We do know this website very well. Many colleagues read it and comment. UK isn't part of EU consultations so they already announced their layoffs while EU countries have different path.
Let's put it this way, as I know from managers near LT. Decisions about which positions will be dropped - were taken long ago. EU can block sh-t. They can only make it look as if they care but it's up to Cargill if they want to fire or not. And we already know the answer to that.
Only disgusting thing is that many people already know if they will stay and some were even announced officially via email to all in EMEA. So the whole council thing is totally meaningless.
Some say we'll know more in March. Some said we were supposed to get info in January.
Every country in EMEA will lay off people it is just a matter of days. Belgium and UK are already informed about which people are at risk. Employees (235 in total) in the Netherlands will be informed till end of February. Remaning countries will also inform Their workforce in coming weeks as well.
115 people being laid off in UK and Ireland. All very random choices basically whatever suited Cargill. Consultation about to complete then they leave. I have heard it’s been brutal. Try and get a job while you have a job is my advice. What’s happening in Netherland
That's not true. Belgium and UK already have some news. What happens is that Europe has better protection laws to workers. Also, there are different types of contract (open, temporary etc) that affect decisions and costs of firing someone. I'm assuming you and your colleagues discussing this are not from an EU country. Hope you are safe there but we are expecting sh-t to hit the fan soon
That sounds unlikely
It's possible the European Union is blocking the mass layoffs. It might be more profitable to keep everyone
Maybe they don't know about this website
