You’re just trading one corrupt and greedy set of leaders for another.

I worked in a position for over 8 years that was unionized. 2 things stand out that would be of significant benefit at UHG. 1. We were guaranteed an annual 3% cost of living raise that everyone received and had nothing to do with performance (that was a separate and additional raise if you qualified). 2. Job security! People could not be laid off and positions could not be eliminated on the fly like we see every single quarter in the world of corporate MCO’s. Both are pretty standard benefits with any union contract. These 2 things alone would be more than enough to unionize.
Somehow in this context, OP, it doesn't sound so bad. Maybe to UHG shareholders and C-Suite, but to everyone else? LOL.
The reason any of you think Union is bad is because of all the benefits union turns into a standard.
Most of the company regulations, most of the safety standards, and benefits are a direct result of unions.
Even if you have never been in a union before, you have been benefiting from a union your entire life.
The only reason you think you don't need a union is because the union got you where you are. And the only way worker right will improve is when unions get stronger.
All the guys at the top of the union care about is increasing union dues year after year to increase their salaries. They don’t care about the employees. They get them hyped up all the time but they’re all bullies just stealing from the employees in a different way. Look it up, all union leaders are RICH!
My husband works for the railroad. Trust me. The union doesn't work for you.
The problem with unions is they negotiate companies into the ground. So many past unionized organizations went bankrupt, because they were spending more to support retired employees than active employees in health care and continued benefits. Retired employees used to be given full benefits, health care, dedicated customer support, etc., and then lived another 20 years, bleeding the organizations. Meanwhile active employees didn’t get half of what retirees were receiving. Unions never stop, they keep taking and taking from companies at the employee’s expense.
Been in 2 unions never again!
This post reminds me of this scene in Mars Attacks lol: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_vUrAMxmO_A
Unions are democracy in the workplace. Sure, labor leaders might be incentivized to get less than optimal deals to remain friendly with executives, but they lose those benefits if not re-elected, and then have to go back into the labor pool with worse benefits.
We're all adults, not children that view the world in black and white. We shouldn't expect a panacea from people with egos big enough to think they're the best leaders. Historically unions have been a net positive
No need to worry about Unions. The way it looks, the USA will be a police State by the end of February or if lucky, not until Summer.
so, you got a recommendation, or you just gonna bi--h?
Yes they are.
Oh, hi C suite simp.
Then why do corporations spend millions to discredit them? They are the only way employees can gain leverage on increases, job protection and benefits.
