Does a letter just stating its read-only, while in reality giving write access, have any power? If you sue on the basis that nah you told me it was readonly now i'ce figured out that write was also given, what would a geriatric judge get? if there is no legal basis to the declaration and no power in the letter how would it hold up in court.
As an example, didn't we all tick the check boxes for co-pilot and Openai to NOT steal our code and yet, haven't they already vacuumed everything up into their machines? Because there is a contradiction in the ToS and the cute l'il check box you ticked a few months back which is exactly what they will state in court if you chose to sue them
Read only means they can look at the numbers but not write to them.
