Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

I love the new RTO policy

I will arrive at 8.
Leave at 5.
No calls once I leave the office.
No early morning calls before I finish my commute.
No laptop on vacations.
No email on evenings or weekends.
This is good. A lot of smart people and lobbyists worked hard for this and I am going to enjoy it.

Please, I refuse to be there until five oclock and deal with an hour traffic. No, go in before traffic, do eight hours, leave earlier than everyone else who'll be in traffic. My paycheck has not gone up with inflation or costs of rent for several years. I reuse to at least keep losing fuel money in traffic.

Yep. If we're not allowed to work remote, then no work from anywhere but the office. That is following the policy. No early morning or late night calls. No more weekends or checking email while out. I will work my 40 hours/week while I am in the office and nothing more.

"Seems a bit harsh, that’s more than what they are asking of you. Why not just follow the policy?"
But the poster describes exactly what policy states! They want you to be 5 days in. Fine! There is no reason whatsoever then to take early calls, check and reply to late or weekend mails as this would mean working outside of working g hours for free. If they are ready to pay overtime then ok, if not, then no way.
