We live in a right to work/at-will-employment state. They have no qualms about laying people off. I have a coworker whose last day is next Friday and despite being one of the foremost experts in her field (VMware), they don't seem to care.

I also know a guy who got a highly sought-after cert; the kind that results in many companies willing to pay stupid money to have you. It required coming up with a deployment plan, being flown to a third party's company's HQ and defending your work against a panel of judges. Dell invested an insane amount of money to get him to that point, yet they stuck to their ridiculous pay raise policies and paid him a fraction of what he was worth and balked at the idea of even paying half of what multiple competitors were offering him for similar work.

Unions in the USA have little power. A close friend was a team lead in portables ~2000. Most of the server support team staged a walkout. Michael just fired them all, then moved folks who were willing, my friend included, from other teams to fill the spots. All they wanted in the role was a warm body to pick up a phone...anyone would do.

And if you're a sales rep? Your knack for getting people to part with their money will ensure you can find a job anywhere.

We should all strike and stop working, maybe that would get some attention.

Former leader. Before I left we would get yearly anti union training. Buzz word to watch out for and how shut down that talk.

If you are thinking of forming a union don't include any current or former ISMs, or anyone who's a team leader or on a leadership trek. They will 1000% nark to brown nose their way up.

Unions postponed this b***it in Wave 2 countries. They also get better packages.

Unions - sounds like a Noreast thing.

Unions are a foreign subject down in the South and Southwest.
We just look at you like you are from the 1950's or lost.

The Tech Oligarchy will find a way to find criminal activity in your digital background and sideline your efforts.

That won't happen. Trump dismantling the Labor Board is in favor of Elon and Bezos, both who asked him to do it to combat unionization. With the Monday firings, it also brings hundreds of pro-worker lawsuits and unionization requests to a halt.

I tried to start one but it was difficult when everyone else was working remotely. I have attended a few trainings but they suggest organizing either by location or department. You have to take inventory of the US employees and exclude the managers/leaders.
