I've been given them zeros for ten years, will gallops of reasons why. I've not seen one, single thing changed for the good. So, they keep getting zeros.
Hmmm, maybe they use the zeros and comments to keep those things the same so more people quit each year.........

in my experience, it hasn't changed a thing and I find not taking it sends more of a message. Someone won't be getting 100% participation scores.

That’s exactly what they did last year. One of the actions items was to ‘teach directors how to effectively communicate the company’s vision better.’

Like, f’ing he-l. The problem isn’t a director’s communication, the problem is you, Senior “Leaders”

The fact Dell basically bullies employees to take this, and all but warns us that if we don’t score everything high they’ll punish us or our direct manager, and they (ELT) wont take substantive action based on our feedback, really leaves you thinking this is a giant farce and not worth the effort.

Just to echo some other responses...

If you are dissatisfied with your direct manager or maybe your second level, some strong negative TD feedback may bring some 'attention' to them.

If you are dissatisfied with senior leaders or the general direction of the company, my experience is that this feedback will be rationalized and the responsible parties won't feel the pain. I have seen instances where negative feedback on campany direction is focused back on the 1st/2nd level managers for not 'selling the vision'.

I can confirm what others here have said. The survey us largely meaningless and if everyone gives low scores they just go after your manager. Although I have to admit my manager is a lot more pleasant to work with since they got a negative score. In this case though decisions that are driving our dissatisfaction are out of our managers' control.

They put a lot of effort into participation.

Best to not participate, I honestly believe it'll hit harder than a negative score.

If you don't have anything to say - maybe just don't say it.

Tell Dell is used to single out managers with the lowest scores. If the mgr gets a low group score then they are dinged because they have not convinced their people that Dell is a great place to work.

They will also try and target those people with low scores as well - I do not think that they know exactly who it is with the low score, but general attitude and comments point them in a direction.

Probably better just to not respond, they know they scores will be sh!t when they do these things, and they do not care. But they will still try and target those who go low...

Has Tell Dell ever mattered? They seem to not give a sh-t regardless of score.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they just didn’t do it this year. They know what everyone is mad about. Why bother asking for feedback they won’t take?

Tell Dell is a complete JOKE.

Tell Dell isn't what it's advertised to be. Your comments and concerns never make it any higher than your manager or theirs. It is whitewashed at each level and at the end of the day the story is Dell is great. That is what they want to hear after all. The only thing a negative Tell Dell does is give your direct manager bad numbers and busy work where he can't change a thing. That survey is a insidious joke.

They didn't listen the last 4 years of Tell Dell...
I think not taking it is the better bet... Let them reflect the lack of employee interest.

Yup. zero effs will be given.
It's a sinking ship. Everyone is either

  1. trying to get off
  2. hide in the hull and hope no one notices

No one in management or HR cares. It would speak louder if none of us fill it out. But again… they won’t care. It’s beyond blatant at this time.

Glad you feel like that get some steam off, but what’s the point? They clearly will not care.

I've been doing it for years, not so much for my manager as he's not the worst, but for anything above that I've always given it a 1. No one takes any notice...
