Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Ireland is safe

Read the FAQ section in Mickies email, it clearly says Ireland cannot be discriminated against for choosing remote, you can apply for internal jobs and get promotions and you can still remain remote on March 3rd. They don’t want you to read this so they buried it on a subtext page in the FAQ.

Know your rights people.

Not a chance that Ovens (Cork) site will have enough seating unless they open up the "old" floors that havent been refurbished. At least those floors will still have desks that dont make you feel like you're working the life of a battery hen.

Will there be enough desks and car parking spaces in the Irish offices for RTO 5 days a week? Given the placement of the Dell sites public transport isn’t a given for many.

There is no protection here for Ireland

If within an hour then you will be changed to onsite, this is legal

If you are further from an office and stay remote then you have zero chance of promotion as Clarke won't sign it off

Yes they can't say they will discriminate against you based on remote status but it will be done behind the scenes with no job changes, small pay rises and then get laid off

It's also illegal in the UK, but they will keep that quiet....

Yea not clear where remote workers in Ireland stand here, legally I mean. Are they requesting or mandating? The Faq also state that your work day profile will be automatically updated from either hybrid or remote if you live < 1hr from site automatically. Again not sure where this stands legally 🤔. 1hr by car, public transport, active travel??? etc. Can remote working contract s be unilaterally cancelled?.

I think that relates to pay rise/promotion/job opportunities. It does not state that you can remain remote.

If you do not get an agreement with your manager and are therefore expected in 5 days a week but to not meet this goal you will be placed on a pip and managed out.
