Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Why does it feel like remote people have the advantage?

I am really confused as to Dell wants to penalize hybrid workers ever more by asking them to come into the office 5 days a week while the remote workers still get to work from home? Threat about not getting promoted are useless as promotions are already few and far at Dell these days.

It is very disheartening to realize that as a hybrid worker i am being penalized even more compared to remote staff. All I want is little flexibility and i am happy being hybrid.

Do you think only you feel not fair? Do you think MD and JC are stupid?
Dell is going to layoff remotes or force them to leave compamy without pay.

Just billionaires trying to keep banks from going belly up. Commerical real estate occupancy is at an all time low. Many tenants delinquent on their leases. Many won't renew. The corporate real estate lobbyists need to force office occupancy because voters won't go for another bank bail out to prop up empty offices. Another billionaire bailout is coming and they will need to use your tax dollars to prop up "needed" office space. The free market is dead just more big government.

From someone who is remote without the option to relocate near an office due to various circumstances:

  1. There are rumors remote folks will be asked to relocate within the year or resign
  2. Even these rumors aren’t true, they are setting things up to shift the culture to stigmatize remote work. They want you upset so it creates a toxic environment and we leave, if the lack of advancement opportunity isn’t enough already.

Remote workers can't promote i to new roles so i think everyone is suffering. If you regret your choice of going hybrid that's understandable but think of all the talented people being overlooked for promotions they qualify for minus the hybrid requirement. In this situation you can always go hybrid but you can never go back to remote status. Because of this you have more power to stay remote cause you can always go hybrid later, in my opinion. But both groups are suffering if you think about the ones who live clear from offices and can no longer advance their careers.

You aren't the only one suffering, very sadly.

In an attempt to preserve their jobs low performers flocked to in office.
So now dell is squeezing hybrids even harder in hopes of some will quit.
make no mistake the future does no bode well for remotes either.
Its just hybrid has more zits to pop for dell for the time being
