The thought that this is going to become a $20b company is ridiculous. Citrix, Tibco, and anything else Krause brings into their orbit is going to be a mash up of yesterday’s products that are being replaced by larger companies and more nimble companies by the day.

The strategy is to turn this into a $20billion company. The way to do that is through more acquisitions. All this has been publicly stated. Acquire more firms with similar customers, combine them into this massive 'group' (with more layoffs of course) and then bundle the products to other companies using one sales motion. This makes it harder to "quit" as customers. Then they can jack up the prices until the only customers left are the ones who cannot afford to move off of the systems. This is a highly-effective sales and profit strategy.

The next CEO? There isn't going to be one. Krause's job is to get the BUs in shape to be sold. Nobody is going to be working for the Cloud Software Group in the future. The cherry on top is that they can sell the cloud.com domain name before they turn off the lights.
