Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Why have I never heard the term “Grand Rapid” here?

This article would leave you to believe it crushes the AMD solution and at a lower price point:

The lesser known Grand Rapids is sold to the Mexican market as El Grande Rapido.

Any mention of free bananas (or Pat-you-know-who) gets the fab monkeys all excited.

You may not have heard it on this site because most of the posters here are fab technicians, many of whom are not aware that the wafers are cut up, packaged and sold a semiconductor devices.

But get em going on RTO and Def Met, and that is another story entirely.

One of the selling points of GNR(and SRF) was the integrated PCH .. so "Big" Xeon finally became a true SoC for the enterprise multi socket servers..
But perhaps just too expensive 🤔

You just don’t get it if you think AMD is the only competition. If Intel just stays focused on delivering the 20th generation of the same old server and client products then the company is done. X86 is rapidly losing market share and Intel has nothing else in the pipeline. One of Intel’s biggest problems is that it has no vision. Too much time spent dreaming about the good old days.

You are still writing it incorrectly, it is granite rapids instead , if you don’t work in server team then you will never hear of it.
