Need help in moving to internal role

How do I apply for internal job? Do I have to let my current manager know that I'm looking for positions or that happens after my new team offers the position?

Also, what can I expect during internal interviews, are they similar or less difficult to external hiring?

Your direct manager is notified once you submit the application, so it’s a good idea to let them know prior that you’re about to apply. Your current manager is asked to let HR know if you’re ineligible to apply internally due to being in bad standing like for a written warning.

Sometimes the hiring manager reaches out to the current manager for feedback, sometimes they don’t.

The expectation is you inform your current manager that you applied, so they aren't surprised when interviewing manager reaches out. You can apply...I think it's under the HR tab... internal job board...I'm not logging in to check exact name. My ex coworkers say that the interview questions are similar to when you first applied and interviewed. Make sure your metrics are good...big deciding factor.

Yeah if it’s the same as when I did a couple years ago I recall my current manager basically getting a chance to give their input/approval. But I think this might have happened once I was selected, not just applied. Not 100% sure.
