That is, if it’s 3-day with the expectation of 5-day (if one can do it), it’s still manageable. Could it be that Dell is among rare companies that actually read and understood the studies on RTO negative effects?

ive seen the 1/31 email. Yes on 5 days in office and no exceptions. There is "core hours" that we should infer by tracked badge swipes as longs as you have one. At the end of the day.... its just a job. A job that pays $'s in return for abiding by the payee (MSD) rules of the road. We all have a choice.
Every billionaire is doing this. Funny how even billionaires think like each other. What happened to those with billions who can dare to be different!! Unless... the government is telling them to do this if they want to win contracts!
MD is still not going to admit his statement was wrong though. It'll never happen.
He already did at a town hall where he responded to a brave remote only worker who drove 4 hours to express how it impacts her to know she can’t have promotions or new jobs unless she moves. He said, we made a mistake and now we’re correcting it. We may not agree, but he’s CEO and majority shareholder. Expecting him to do as employees request is a fool’s errand. Time for everyone who is tired of the Dell toxic nonsense to look elsewhere including yours truly.

Buckle up, it'll be a bumpy ride folks. They are about to announce 5 day RTO at least for people living within an hour of a Dell office. Remote is still being looked at though one rumor is that they may go the draconian route and give folks a year to move close enough to a Dell office to come in 5 days a week. Tell Dell ain't gonna be pretty big it's not like they care. MD is still not going to admit his statement was wrong though. It'll never happen.
@d5+1jjt2fewb he did say it last quarter in a all hands meeting. All my remote team mates were so sad to be called a mistake. Then we all left as we dont want to work where our ceo calls hiring us a mistake. After that meeting 3 remote people on my team including myself left to work at other companies that don't feel this way about remote workers.
My teammates in office shared the link that was provided to all the in person people who couldn't fit in the meeting room and there was supposedly an audible gasp on the sales floor when he said it. Remote people were not invited to this meeting as the link was only sent to people who signed up to attend this meeting in person but did not get a seat because as usual, they didn't have space for all the hybrid people that signed up.
I wonder if, since they have people the choice of “hybrid” or remote, they’ll give people the choice of 3 or 5 days in the office. I mean what does it mean to be hybrid if you have to go in 5 days a week.
If the get rid of hybrid, I hope they get rid of remote too and make ALL employees go into the office. Or give hybrid people the choice to go full remote.
I think everyone would feel a bit better if MD would just admit he was wrong when he said remote work was the future. It would go along way in building our confidence in management.

wouldn't that already be the policy. Three days...if you want to come in 5, then by all means do so. I know some that do this.
This email will be very clear, 5 says a week in the office.
It's bold of you to assume that the Dell higher ups are capable of that level of reading and comprehension.
