Thread regarding GE Healthcare layoffs

How many got the Ax today?

Got laid off from GEHC today. I know of two others. I am wondering if there are more?

35% of the SEI workforce in Australia, New Zealand, Korea & ASEAN region is impacted. Marketing, sales, implementation services, customer service. GEHC going to maintainance mode for some years - no sales activity - just maintain the customer installed base.

Add NZ to the list if reliable source is correct

I'm aware of at least another 10 people retrenched Mar/20 in Singapore and Australia in the GEHC IT sector. The rumour is the business is pulling out of the Asia Pac region due to uncompetitive products and will only be retaining staff to execute existing orders and customer support for the installed base.

The only SEI Division openings are for managers. Go figure

CEOs are expensive. Gotta cut some worker Bees to afford them.

GE HealthCare reported nearly $10.5 million in total compensation for President and CEO Peter Arduini last year, including a $1.25 million salary/

SEI Division got new CEO Jan 1. Today layoffs hit across the board from field sales, entire inside sales team, IT, solution architects, customer success, demo specialists, contract teams, everything. And it happened globally not just USCAN but uscan got hit hard, lost at least half the uscan staff. No managers were let go (of course). Everyone given 30 days, no jobs being reposted. Was a bloodbath and the town hall justification call is tomorrow. Most people had been working for GE over 20+ years tossed out like garbage

Truly sad, however, reading the comments just shows how naive some are. Few, if any, corporations care about their employees. Leaders will do what it takes to pad their salaries, bonuses and have little to no care for what was done, it is all about what is going to be done, and often that is with reduced workforce.

Were you in IT as well? Any parting gifts or package for 30 years of service?

I got the axe on Wednesday. I’ve had almost 30 years of service between Marquette, GE Healthcare, GE Corporate, and now GE HealthCare. It’s tough, but time to move on.

Ge Healthcare - a company that does not care.

Also several forced no package "retirements " in Dec and January so if over 60 or have a disability start looking. Total 10 at site.

A state based class action suit is in GE HC near future.

Also GE HC is unable to get the new anesthesia machine across the finish line - to replace the 24 year old model that is running out of chip sets. Other groups are plagued by recalls.

Not a nice place

Total number was 147, about 10-15% of total IT staff. Depending on access, some were termed immediately (last day of today 1/31) and others have 30 or 60 days. Only those in US/Canada and ASPAC regions have been notified, Europe is yet to come. If it was just spin related, they would've said so and it would've been much clearer based on who was let go. Essentially everyone who held a director role and above with more than one or two directs had to give someone up, and the redundancy of the role was key (and performance, which they can't say).

It's not just about spin related workers, folks with decades of tenure were impacted as well. Decisions made at the top without talking to line managers or taking performance into consideration. Worst IT leadership ever.

I think we all knew if you were 100% spin you would get moved to new area (limited) or get the golden hand shake. The golden people stay and the workers go. I love GEHC and think with some re alignment we will be ready to go. I hope the best For them cut. Hope trump drives tariffs up. Need good jobs in america.

Same here. Also US based IT worker in a spin role. Seems like the cuts came from the top as it puts my team in a difficult position.

Got notified of RIF yesterday. Also an SPB in IT who loved what they did and worked on spin. Still in shock that people that worked so hard supporting spinoff are being let go right at the start of the year.

Referencing the comment regarding Western Digital Crew - spot on. These guys have loyalty only to each other. Worst leader I have EVER had. Never responded to emails or texts but had no issues being cutting and disrespectful. And very biased in favor of their friends they brought on board. Will not be a good thing for GEHC.

Was an exit package provided? Or were you kicked to the curb with nothing?

Multiple people in IT organization on mid management / mid tech levels in USA and India. They are not communicating total numbers. Spin is over so no longer needed :( Good luck to you all.

SPB3 here in IT. Got notified of RIF yesterday and worked my butt off on ensuring spin was a success. What a gut punch since I loved what I did...The interesting part is, almost all the Western Digital crew that came in to Healthcare as part of the CIO and senior leader shake up about 15+ months ago are based in Northern California...talk about cost savings...hah.

Yep I have heard it is about 100 employees, all US workers. (Me included)
I too was in IT and a SME and worked very hard on the SPIN/AMF last year. A lot of the names I have heard were also on the SPIN. Really leaving a bad taste in my mouth.

I was laid off in IT today as well. Worked damn hard to get the spin completed, was completely broadsided by this. So many layers of redundant management in the IT department yet they cut the SMEs.

I blame the CFO and team for failing to forecast and mitigate the lack of orders from China. Doing this at the end of the first month of the year is embarrassing for them.

started with US, Canada and India.
rest of the world to follow may be. Just before Feb earnings call. That's how companies move the EPS and bottom line needle to falsely beat market expectations

totally agree - many of those cut worked the spin project and now that they were successful, lost their jobs. Terrible.

Hearing wide spread cuts but seems to be IT based. Most upset since they worked hard last year to ge us moved from GE to new GE HC space then they are cut. Hard feelings and those that are left may not step up again. It’s part of life but comes at bad time.
